childhood toys binned or sold?

Not 100% sure what happened to the majority of my toys :(

I found some random bits and bobs from all of the Ghostbusters stuff I had, couple of weapons and all the annuals but all of my toys mysteriously vanished. I will have to ask my parents but I reckon it must have all gone to a charity shop or something.

The SW stuff I kept well into my teens, it was all in a big white tub with a lid on and when I started collecting as an adult I just combined the best of my loose stuff with the new stuff I was getting. I think most of the stuff I had as a kid that wasn't in very good condition went back on ebay. Didn't really have any nostalgic link to it all though as I had bought most of it myself or been given it in the 90's.

I do remember getting into Warhammer 40k quite heavily when I was about 14-15 and I must have thought I was "done" with Star Wars so I used a perfectly fine Rebel Transport for a diorama. I had seen them use it in the White Dwarf magazine and thought I would have a go, sadly it meant cutting the thing in half! I did that but never actually painted the thing..so basically destroyed it for no reason!

Luckily as mentioned before I managed to store all my star wars stuff in my mum and dads loft with my micronauts and matchbox collections. Regrets are at selling my action man collection in the early 90's to a dealer for not a lot, had loads of 60's and 70's stuff and loads tanks helicopters etc inherited from family members and selling a lot of my matchbox collection.
Upset that sometime over the years my boxed MAC mountain and collection went AWOL with only four MAC men left and some action jacks. Happy that I still have my Californian mongoose with yellow skyways which I got in 1983 and still ride today, fat bloke doing bunny hops in the road embarrassing my daughters, but have had some old school respect for some younger BMX,s who recognised the make :) . Every time I ride that bike I am thirteen again, and that feeling is priceless, and its still the best BMX ride and i've tried a lot of the modern mongooses and other makes :)

Given away by the evil stepmother to some nursery back in the 90's :x

She had no right to do it and didn't even ask just went ahead and did it

I have my x-wing and Rancor left but no figures.

Great to hear that so many people still have theirs 8)

My parents (especially my dad) never threw anything away especially me and my brothers toys....he knew the value of them after all he bought majority of them....I still have all my Starwars toys and a hell of a lot of my matchbox cars (well played with so no minters  )

Any toys that I don't have anymore I either swapped or sold or gave them away....

I had a Mk2 Supertuff Burner BMX but I gave that away to one of my cousin's when I were around 19....years later when I got back into retro BMX I asked my cousin about the Supertuff but sadly they got rid of it years previous....this is why I decided to fully restore one when I got back into the BMX scene...I restored it 6 years ago among other Raleigh Burners and I still have it to this day....

My Action Man toys I had I sold for the grand sum of £9 back in around 84' (I had loads of uniforms, accessories,a good few vehicles) I sold them to give me some spending money for the arcades in Scarborough...we went for a day trip one time....the twat thing was I had my cash in a camera case along with the camera and I were playing a game of Tron (I can remember this as if it was yesterday) I'd finished my game and walked away leaving my camera case on the side of the cab only realising moments later then running back into the arcade and the case was gone with my £9 Action Man money still in it

We had loads of Beano and Dandy annuals as well amongst many other annuals and me and brother again gave them away to younger cousin....things you do when your young and stupid

Most of the toys me and my brother owned were sold off in the local paper to make room for newer toys.

Our Star Wars collection was sold to someone down the road from where I used to live. I have no idea what happened to all our Action Man and Action Force.

There are still a few bits in my parents loft, a good old trusty Commodore 64, loads of Transformers and He-man books. Now and again I find the odd hidden gem up there like the odd Lego set, Dungeons & Dragons action figures etc...

Still not enough though ;(

The collector in me though means my current loft is full of empty boxes for all my sons Lego and stuff. I can see why my parents were keen to move it on LOL...

The good thing about this thread is it has made me realise about keeping the toys.
Now with a young son I have the insight to keep his toys stored away when he looses interest in them. I will store them all in boxes and someday when he least expects it i will bring him to the loft.
I can now imagine if my father had done that for me!
It would have been a great surprise :)

I always thought the vintage star wars era toys would be the last of the truly collectable mass marketed toys, you know the stuff - he man, tranformers etc. But some of the toys my younger brother had have started to be of interest to collectors - Real Ghostbusters, GI Joe etc. I guess there will be toys out now that our kids will want to collect. God knows what! Saving packaging is probably wise though.

Every toy i had as a kid was binned, i had so many different figures from loads of different lines.
when i was a kid i never had enough but when i look back now and actually remember the ones i had i was quite spoiled
I wish i had kept them because it would have saved me a fortune on having to buy them all back now at a much greater prices.
Jealous of all the people that still have the ones from their childhood i mean yeah its great I've bought duplicates now but they ll never be the ones i used to play with in the garden or take round to my friends.

mine were binned :( i was quite destructive and bashed my stuff around, played with it in the sandpit.

My mum still finds figures buried in the garden and my dad says he can see a few figures in the well, i think one is superfly jimmy snuka from wwf, i remember lowering him down there lol.

All my TMNT figures either sold or binned cause of dad been a b@stard still is now. Almost my GB fire house but managed to stop them.

In truth I don't really know what happened to a lot of my stuff. I didn't see much of my old man for a very long time and in that time he moved pubs over to Congleton. I haven't really pressed him on it but I would guess they just skipped the lot. Fortunately, years earlier, I had given some of my original SW toys to my younger brother. But these original toys became swallowed up by the rest of my collection and probably got sold 15 years ago.

The only thing I was surprised that they did get rid of was my Dad's record collection. Nothing super rare but I think of records as being part of your soul. Fair enough, bin your CDs, but vinyl? I guess some people just don't feel attachment or sentiment to these things. I was quite sad about hearing that. :|

I regret selling my Vintage childhood MOTU collection about 8 years ago, was moving house all the time and had a massive cull of personal items. Recently started showing my 4 year old son He-Man episodes on the TV and he loves it. He would love the toys.

I kept most of my SW stuff until 2007 , then sold it , can't even remember the reason why . The only thing I have left is my ESB boxed Palitoy Hoth Wampa . However I remember burying my Lando figure in 1981 outside my parents house , always thought of going back and digging it up !!!!!
