Bye bye Roanldo..............you wee wanker!

Return flighst to OZ, what 45 ish times a year.......a small price to pay for getting to watch the Hammers!

First thing i would like to highlight i put the words in my post no offence to anybody twice!

I was simply talking about how the game has changed from its historical roots and the rise of the fickle glory supports that we see all around today!

Was this aimed at me at all Jay?
I don't support MancU. I was just making a football statement.

Not at all Tim i actually agree with you analysis of Micheal Owen. I didn't know who you supported and my comments certainly weren't aimed at any forum member.

wise up jay for **** sake  football is global ! you dont want people from differant parts of the uk or world supporting your local team but its ok for people from other parts of the world playing for them and pumping millions into your local club ...just because you were born close to a certain club does not make you a better supporter

slim

Did i say that no i didn't! Of course the game is global however since the conception of the premier league the fickle glory supporters along with the wembely prawn sandwich crowd have diluted the tribal origins of the sport in my opinion.

The term plastic supporter doesn't just refer to the fact that somebody isn't a regional supporter who was born and bred it also refers to the fact that they don't travel to the games, choosing only to watch the team on TV (more often than not when they are winning things). Many of Man U glory supports i know once supported Liverpool when they dominated the League and will be ready to jump ship soon when Man U's dominance fades which i believe will be accelerated by the departure of fergie who will probably only have 2 more seasons in him.

i can see where his anger comes from , The club's highest league finish to date was third in the 1913â€"14...**** me that nearly 100 years ago , hardly the stuff of champions is it

no offence
slim

Well these last 2 quotes slim kinda say it all really. (notice how no other forum member reacted like that)

In my job over the last 10 years i have had the luxury of traveling and living / working in many parts of the UK and Europe including salford Manchester. I can guarantee you 1 thing not one of the salford lads who i work with would have reacted by slagging off my team in the way that you did.

Its exactly the type of response that you would get from a glory supporter who has zero connection to the town / city / team that they are cheering. They feel inferior so they bash others with the age old what has your team ever won yada yada yada. Playground stuff really.

I think Jay is slagging off the plastic fans that all "big" clubs attract and United (given their dominance over the last decade or so   ) in particular seem to have by the bucket load.

Slightly different for the likes of Coco, you and me Slim. We don't live In England (TF, lol) but if or when the 'bad-times' come for United/Liverpool we aren't just going to jump ship and suddenly support who-ever is doing well at the time.
There are however, a lot of people out there who "like" football but only watch their team when they are winning things. These are the kind of people who have never heard of Shankley, Paisley, Stein, Cruyff etc (everyone has heard of Pele and Maradona) and who would think nothing of saying "I used to support so and so, but now I support....."
To the rest of us true/non glory hunter fans that attitude is completly anethema!

Personally I have NEVER cheered for United and I never will, I still remember telling my United supoorting uncle to **** off when he declared a liking for Liverpool.......the day after the Champions League final in 2005 (Istanbul) and that they were his second team. But then he is a fully fledged glory hunter.
But you just can't like Liverpool AND United............I'm pretty sure that's illegal!

Hallelujah! Somebody who understood the point i was trying to make about the modern game.

One of my old bosses literally supported Man U since Fergie joined then jumped ship to Chelsea for the Jose Morinuio years and is now currently glory supporting Man u again lol

Does he go to the games NO!
Is he born and bred or does he have have any regional ties either to Manchester or London (Chelsea) NO!
Does he go to the home games NO!
Does he go to the away games specifically when he doesn't need to travel as far to get there NO!
Does watch them on TV YES! (but mainly when they are competing for something or playing a top 4 club in the league etc)
Does he react like slim did when been ribbed for been a glory supporter YES! (Even though my original post had nothing to do with slim or who he supports as it was just a general observation)

i have touched a nerve i think  i found a record you have ! A survey at the start of the 2007â€"08 season found Middlesbrough supporters were the seventh loudest set of fans in the Premier League.[51]

lighten up dude

i have been to a ton of games and had my own season ticket ..our family had 4 which cost over near 2 grand a year to renew ! also i was only stating a fact that that was your best league finish almost 100 years ago ! the true hurts does'nt it

slim

****ing hate football arguments, if only everyone stopped watching and supporting these billionaire players they might have to go get a real job

I like playing football, I played for my school and my local team, I watch the World cups + Euro cups as its entertaining and exciting but I have never had a team, I enjoy playing football more than I do watching rich little cunts do it for me.

Mate i supported Boro and went to the games from been 3 years old
and went to the games back in the old divsion 2 and 3 no problem
for me its not all about the trophys etc.

Like i said earlier i wasn't bashing you or anybody else on the forum
i was simply providing a critic on how fan habits have changed over
the last 20 - 30 years nothing more and i clearly said twice in the original
post no offense to anybody here.

At no stage was i arguing with anybody the only person who took any
offense was yourself hence your childish comments previously.

Was up with that splitarses bottom lip??? nice tits though!
