Bye bye Roanldo..............you wee wanker!

I think Owen on a free is an ok deal, but lets be honest, when he was rumoured to be going back to Liverpool i remember all the comments of "past it" "waste of money" "got no pace anymore" from the Utd end.

But thats normal banter isnt it, he will be an ok signing and he will get goals, but i doubt he will replace the 35 goals a season ronaldo scored so i think its a bit pointless, i mean who else was in for Owen..Hull...Stoke

Utd need a top goalscorer and i dont think Owen is it really. Nice bench warmer though, or someone to keep Hargreaves happy in the treatment room :)

The trouble with Owen is he's rarely fit. Comes back for a couple of games then he picks up a niggling injury.
The other problem with him aswell is he scores goals in fits n starts. tends to score a glut of goals then can go through a baron spell, which can be really frustrating. For Free could be ok, but well past his best.

owen played 30 games for newcastle last year and scored 10 goals . better ratio than tevez and i know which was getting the better service .
i know fitness is a big problem but he has been put through a rigorous medical and i dont think owens hunger has been there since he left liverpool. i think things are going to be tough for fergie in the transfer market this year as everyone knows he has money to burn, but there are some options i think he should consider. i know the scousers will rip me but at less than £10 million peter crouch is good value. great impact sub . marcus berg the young swede would be decent at £8 million. he is quick, strong and has a fantastic touch. u21's top scorer in the euro's. we still need someone in the middle of the park and a couple of young central defenders for in a couple of years time.

Nah, I agree Jay I think Crouchy is a decent player. He's under rated just becuase he is built like a bean pole and looks like he's having a bloody epileptic fit when he runs. But, he scores goals, and god knows continetal defenders are **** scared of him from set pieces.........they don't know he can't head for ****.

As for Owen, I think it's a good deal for United.
For free on a pay as you play contract they have **** all to lose (relatively speaking). He won't play 40 games a season but I don't think that's why Fergie bought him. He'll be used more as a super sub, bucked on when they need a goal, or against the weaker premiership teams. In both cases the fact his legs are gone and he offers next to nothing outside the box will not be such a problem.
It will be VERY strange seeing him running about in United shirt.
How are the United fan's gonna feel cheering on an Ex Liverpool player!?

On another note, United have lost Ronaldo and Tevez and replaced them with Valencia and Owen...........Let's be honest, which is the better pairing?

Ohh and £17 million for Glen Johnson, knock a zero off his price and I'd say your in the right ball park. ****ING WASTE OF MONEY.
Robbie Keane mark2!

He'll be a great super-sub, but he'll also spend a fair bit of time in the treatment room wth the other Owen!

Good player, but not worth what United paid for him, especially not as he seems to be done. The most optimistic prognosis I have heard about him is he has 2-3 years left, full stop.

owen scored another one in his second game of the tour  , i know its not very tough teams they are playing..but still 2 in 2 so far looks good for the poacher

I reckon he could be the signing of the season if he stays fit.
He's still a great finisher (when fit), & with United's other strikers he'll probably be a supersub, which will help him stay injury free too.

I guess it may be because I'm from the north east (I don't know?) But we were brought up with football in our blood. The biggest factor is that we support our local teams I'm from middlesbrough so I'm a boro fan my house mate was born in jesmond newcastle so he is a toon fan **** many of my mates born in darlington spport darlington. Football is a tribal game historically you were born and bred with your colours. When I lived in spain for 2 years it was exactly the same in bilbo the locals support bilbo in san sebastian they support their local team real sociadad etc. Since the formation of the prem league the rise of fergies dominance and the super millions pumped into football a lot of this has been lost.

When fergie steps down in a year or 2 and different teams gain dominance in england I reckon thousands of the plastic supporters (no offence its just a north east term) will jump ship to the new glory team what will be funny as **** is if that is man city lol.
I know many will still support man u even if they have no regional ties but by gods many will switch teams.

Just my opinion as a born and bred football fan and I hope nobody takes any offence.

Cheers Jay

wise up jay for **** sake  football is global ! you dont want people from differant parts of the uk or world supporting your local team but its ok for people from other parts of the world playing for them and pumping millions into your local club ...just because you were born close to a certain club does not make you a better supporter

i can see where his anger comes from , The club's highest league finish to date was third in the 1913â€"14...**** me that nearly 100 years ago , hardly the stuff of champions is it

no offence

I think Jay is slagging off the plastic fans that all "big" clubs attract and United (given their dominance over the last decade or so   ) in particular seem to have by the bucket load.

Slightly different for the likes of Coco, you and me Slim. We don't live In England (TF, lol) but if or when the 'bad-times' come for United/Liverpool we aren't just going to jump ship and suddenly support who-ever is doing well at the time.
There are however, a lot of people out there who "like" football but only watch their team when they are winning things. These are the kind of people who have never heard of Shankley, Paisley, Stein, Cruyff etc (everyone has heard of Pele and Maradona) and who would think nothing of saying "I used to support so and so, but now I support....."
To the rest of us true/non glory hunter fans that attitude is completly anethema!

Personally I have NEVER cheered for United and I never will, I still remember telling my United supoorting uncle to **** off when he declared a liking for Liverpool.......the day after the Champions League final in 2005 (Istanbul) and that they were his second team. But then he is a fully fledged glory hunter.
But you just can't like Liverpool AND United............I'm pretty sure that's illegal!

i sit on the fence.

im a Liverpool fan...nobody will tell me different, im from yorkshire, but my mum bought me a fake liverpool kit when i was about 3 so i supported Liverpool, i always will, i cant stop or change.

but i love football, so i go watch Liverpool, Hull, Leeds, Rotherham etc just to see football. I do agree there are MANY glory supporters and they will abandon ship when it all goes wrong (i have friends who do that)

But when you are young you notice the teams in the shop window and on the TV unless your dad is a local football guy and takes you to a match, my dad did sod all with me, he didnt even watch me when sheffield utd scouts came to watch me play along with curtis woohouse and lee morris!!

i still put money into local clubs as well as liverpool...just my story though :)

I'm a Hammer thru & thru. Our family comes from there. I used to go a fair bit before i moved to Australia, now i watch all the games on tv. Everyone that knows me in Australia knows who i support, even our wedding was claret and blue. I even try & arrange visits back around decent home games!
C'mon you irons!
