Box repair for Stretch Monster prior to sale?

I have a stretch Monster that I was planning to sell last year - had him since I was a nipper.

I got him down from the loft and took some photos prior to listing on ebay but made the mistake of not getting on with it leaving him in reach of my 5 year old.

Said 5 year old (who has since been sold ) found the stretch monster and, unable to free him from his 40 year old cardboard box, proceeded to rip said box...

So my question to the collective; should I tape the box back together on the inside and disclose for the sale or should I sell the figure with the box in 6 pieces?

:shock: Hope you got a decent price for the 5yr old.

Man that sucks but hard to be mad at a child opening what to them is just a cool toy. I'd probably sell as is with the story to go along with it. Nothing is going to change what's a happened and sticking the box back together wouldn't alter the price I'd imagine. The next owner may chose to do it or just leave what's left and display it as is.

Cheers Ryan, I had the hump at the time but never with him; totally my fault for leaving it lying around. Suffice to say, any Mocs that come into the house now get put well out of reach of my little shi.. son I mean!

I think I'll list it as you advise - at least that'll give people the option.

I'd agree, sell as is and let the buyer repair it

Guess it depends on your skill level. If you are any good with a bit of PVA glue and some acid free paper to strengthen the joins then repair it, I don't think it'll detract from the sale price or interest. If though you suck at that kind of thing, sell it as is and let the buyer take their own risks on the repair.

Honestly I'd just sell it in the foam and bin what's left of the box, it's sad but a box torn in to shreds like that has no financial or historical value.

Definitely not! Figured it may have some display value if placed in hands more skilled than my own; will be sold in 6 pieces along with the figure.

He's on the final day of a 10 day auction on eBay as we speak; he's got bids on so would feel bad if I were to finish it early. That said, if you won him on there we could cancel the auction and I'd resell him to you for for 10% less than you won him for.
