My my these "scummers" just don't give up do they! Has anyone found a cloth caped jawa on a palitoy card with the VCJ type bubble?

RS threads are weird.

I've not been on the scene long - but why is it that people are reluctant with the opinions of specialist collectors, but throw themselves behind non-sensical rumours and hearsay 100% and themselves make up rediculous situations of "what if's"?

"What? those FACTS aren't real! I heard a five-legged-man made it out of playdoh! So your facts are wrong!"

Watching the debate from the outside, it is almost as if some of the folk dont wan't it to be real for one reason, or another. Some of the things I've read in that thread have just been silly. Then you have people commenting clearly without reading the whole thread.

Personally, I have no care if a general card is Palitoy of Kenner - but it seems clear that a lot across the pond think that Pali is some kind of lower class card and find it hard to comprehend the Pali line is rarer and more expensive than their Kenners.

You've all been about collecting far longer than I - so maybe can shed some light, is there a Pali-evny syndrome?

And I cant knock Vectis - seeing as the word Vectis is the Roman name for the Isle of Wight, and from what I understand originated from here, so they can only be cool ;)

I am happy putting my trust in people who have scrutinised this card closely - hence I will be taking my own brand of crazy to the auction. This item definitely will go for a crazy price, and most likely more than it's worth. Simply because some are happy to pay whatever it takes to get it.

To me, it's worth a whole lot more just to have it in my Jawa focus.

Mate- while im not into RS bashing, and meeting some of the long timers at CE2 made me realise that im missing out not being on that forum.

I do get frustrated with some of the posters, who may have 1138 posts, but are all to ready to jump on things and trash them, but then start a new thread the next day titled- 'Whats a blue snaggletooth?'.

It can be tedious.

No, as I have stated and documented repeatedly...

Yeah, I am.

While I don't miss the BS, theres a lot of great people on there, who aren't on here. And we don't sell prototypes much on SWFUK.

Thanks Jason, while it doesn't prove or disprove the existance of the VCJ Palitoy it does prove there are more of these out there than just the examples known that haven't come from the hands of this so called legendary faker.

One of the "scammers" is Jason Joiner.

I met him last year and don't know him or the history.

He has seemed to upset quite a few collectors and im not sure why.

All I found was the selling of a Superman prop that was fake. Joiner claimed he didn't know.

Im not sure if this story is even true.

Some clarity on why people call Joiner a "scammer" and drag his name through the mud would be great.

I only know of Jason through Showmasters and a number of the cons and Massive Events TV show tie ins that he is involved in and he's only ever come over as a nice chap in the dealings I have had with him. I think a lot of the scams happened when he was more of a star wars collector many years ago. These days he's more into props than action figures, and meeting celebs through his work.

cheers Jason

The RS thread makes depressing reading. The amount of morons reading only the most recent comments and then throwing in something that's already been answered is retarded. It took them 4 pages to agree that AFA had never said they wouldn't grade another VCJ, just that it was unlikely that another one would turn up, and then some other buffoon goes and raises it all over again ....

Clearly sending it to AFA would limit its value because of the crushing so the seller won't do it, but oh no, it's a fake, can't be graded by AFA, touch ups, it's already been graded so clearly something is amiss (yes, someone said that) etc etc ...

I don't normally swear on posts, but some of those guys are ******* idiots.

Feel better now :D

Chris,
I hope that wasn't thrown in my direction.

We all know that the forum is a place for discussing topics...not to sling mud...but it can getting ******* rowdy around here when we all start drinking and jumping in with the mob. I love this forum because it is told how it is and not much is held back. Another great point is we all share one thing in common.....Star Wars toys.

Jason,
I respect you as a collector and as a person that has a vast knowledge of Palitoy SW items. Please understand that my posts were not directed at you in a negative matter whatsoever. It was just a difference of opinion on a piece that has not been seen before (out of the UK ....small group) in the community. It is tough to swallow that another fell right out of the sky once that one was graded by AFA. Can you see if Vectis can shed some more light on this piece?

I am not sure why the piece wasn't sent to UKG but this does not discount the great job both companies do.Keep in mind that AFA has to grade the piece if they can't prove it is a fake. Do you get what I am trying to say?

Guys....I will jump in the fray here because I feel like I need to defend myself as one of the posters. I am not looking for a fight or to prove that anybody is wrong. As much as anybody else I want to believe this is true. I am just looking at this from a different direction. I have a difference of opinion. Yes I know a bit about the Torres situation and about Palitoy(not as much as Jason or Gary)

The provenance on this piece and the one that was graded is not as clear as we would like it to be. I think we are all in agreement on this. Torres is known for doing some shady ****....end of story.

There is more I can go into detail on but I see no reason. It can be read on the RS thread. I just don't want to turn this into a mud slinging match. It is good to know that we can still find great topics like this to discuss in the community.....and the while learning new things.

I do want to end this post with an invite to those that are game. In two years the next Celebration is going to be held in the states in CA....hit me up during rooms sales and let's have some ******* beers. We can talk more about this then. You have plenty of time to plan and put money away for the Con so get with it. VIP tickets are sold out.

They'll be like a dozen MOC examples by then at the rate we're going at now...

Jason

How many would you like???

No using prit stick and sticky back plastic now. We're not all watching Blue Peter these days, or in your case, at all!

:P

Jason

Funny with all this talk of fake palitoy vcjs if you type 'palitoy vinyl cape jawa' into google images, I would challenge you to find a picture of a faked example on there anywhere at all. All I can see is the 3 MOCs that have seen publicity and are in the open and some of the opened examples (one of which was sold by Vectis in Jan 2012, so they are no stranger to this particular figure/card combo).

:)

Jasob

I have an ultra rare Toltoys VCJ. The only known example which is corrected so that the Jawa is standing the right way up for our Oz friends.

After reading through the RS thread it seems like this subject will always go around in circles. I'm amazed that after one was graded by the AFA there's still a lot of doubt out there about if this item exists. I know the AFA have been wrong before but if people won't except it for real after it's been graded then I guess there's no real point it using them for grading anything that's very rare.

I'm also quite surprised that people find it so suspicious that another one has been found just after the only graded one in the world sold recently for a small fortune. I'm thinking that the person who bought it probably noticed how much the ebay one went for and decided that 11K would come in handy. We don't even know when this one was bought (well I don't think we do?), it may well have been sitting in someone's collection for years or even been put away into storage. I'm pretty sure if anyone who uses the various forums out there has one that they would have come forward by now but the truth is there are many more Star Wars collectors out there in the world who aren't part of any forum and just enjoy collecting these toys. I've spent years collecting all sorts of toys and only joined a star wars forum fairly recently. In fact as it was TIG that I joined first and posted my reseal collection up I wasn't even aware that there was a UK forum until a member from here contacted me about it. Also I can understand if the seller doesn't want to come forward as I wouldn't want everyone knowing that I'm sat on very valuable item.

The end of the day with this all is that I feel some people probably won't be happy about this Palitoy VCJ being legit until 4 or 5 have been graded by the AFA (probably never going to happen but you never know). I've asked before on here if anyone from the UK used to have this figure as a child during the 70's and other than myself there's only one other person who had one. It would be interesting to know if there is anyone else out there and I know that in many peoples eyes this won't prove anything but it's always good to hear someones childhood story, it's part of the reason I collect. :)

Just for the record, i'm more than satisfied that these existed in the UK and even though I haven't seen the Vectis one first hand I can't see anything wrong with the pictures that I've seen of it. We all know that this figure wasn't produced for very long and all the ones that were sold in countries other than the US must have been in very low numbers. Back then kids used to just rip the packaging open and play with things so I can see why very few survived intact.

My rant was definitely thread specific, rather than person specific :D

If you read the thread from start to finish in one go (which I did), it's really daft the amount of people who were clearly just trying to get in late to the argument. I like RS, there are some really informative threads and great stuff FS, but there are also way too many threads that are filled with trolls and serial 'arguers' (again, not being person specific here!!).
