Seems entirely reasonable to me.

Comments from rebelscum and my vintage facebook group that there are ink touch ups on this card.
Must have been done a while back as there is much more subsequent card edge wear present.
Obviously, if ink touch ups are present then the piece is not AFA gradable.
Also affects the end price on the auction.

Have asked Kathy from Vectis to comment on my vintage facebook group.

cheers Jason

As I don't like grading - I am finding myself in a position where I almost hope it has some ink touch-ups! Will remove some of the competition with any luck!
You did mention previously that you wouldn't mind if it was coloured in with crayons
Good on you, Nick- I'm not a fan of grading either, why pay someone to tell you what you can already see with your own eyes?

Kathy has replied on my vintage facebook group. She has the piece in hand and say there are no ink touch ups and has provided these new closeups of the areas in question.

Reading your facebook page and the thread on RS (which I am being a very good boy with and not commenting) you would think that the bulk of people passing their opinions want this to be a fake, or have issues or both. I don't see why so many people are doing this down. Jason you are doing very well not to get annoyed at some people who are basically calling your opinion out. It is good to see Gary back you up - to be honest if the pair of you can't spot a fake then we might as well all go home

When this opinion came out about the ink touch up, I couldn't see it myself - it would be strange for it to be touched up and then pick up more edge ware - which I think would have been most likely to have occurred when it was on sale rather than later in it's life

Thanks for your support. I do like an argument with people who are clearly in the wrong though. And I also thought it odd that there was much more edge wear that hadn't been touched up!

Come and see it in person!

From Kathy at Vectis:-

PLUS anyone in the UK wanting to see this piece prior to auction- we will be attending toyfairs at the NEC Birmingham on Sunday 22 September; Sandown Park, Esher, Surrey Saturday 14 September. Plus Donington Park Sunday 20 October. There are also other carded figures- including other 12 back Palitoy, Guerre Stellari and others...

cheers Jason

I agree with you Iain. If Gary and AFA both say its legit then IMO there's no case for an argument. If its the first or twenty first one to turn up, it's not hard to spot a non factory seal or a reproduced cardback, whatever technology has made it.
Also, I can't really make out the touch ups, and if it was gonna be inked, surely they would have done the rest of the edgewear. Surely Vectis could just take a picture of it with a uv light. That way you can see if its been touched up.
I can see the issues people have with the provenance of it and think that vectis should make this information known.
Anyway, all this talk of touching up is making my mind wander ..........

Have a word with Todd or AJ - I am sure they would be able to point you in the right direction

Piece is ungraded so not seen by AFA.

cheers Jason

I think Lee means the original one that was graded by AFA - that is now seemingly being called into question as well

I thought one of the points was relating to the legitimacy of the graded one.

Maybe I'm still distracted by the touching up comments!

The RS thread makes depressing reading. The amount of morons reading only the most recent comments and then throwing in something that's already been answered is retarded. It took them 4 pages to agree that AFA had never said they wouldn't grade another VCJ, just that it was unlikely that another one would turn up, and then some other buffoon goes and raises it all over again ....

Clearly sending it to AFA would limit its value because of the crushing so the seller won't do it, but oh no, it's a fake, can't be graded by AFA, touch ups, it's already been graded so clearly something is amiss (yes, someone said that) etc etc ...

I don't normally swear on posts, but some of those guys are ****ing idiots.

Feel better now :D
