I been looking through my list of mint on card AFA figures and have noticed the difference in grades between the figures from 80-90. What do they look for on the figure. As the only thing i can think of is the paint work. I have noticed 1 or 2 on ebay that the figure is graded a 95 is it rare. To get a mint on card figure card and get a grad of 95. Is there any out there where it as got less than 80

Never really understood the figures grade for a MOC. As most are (by defination) untouched for 20+ years, so whatever condition they are in, was basically the condition they were made in.

I have a suspicious feeling that the figure grade is (barring the odd exception) pretty much always the same as the average of the other 2.

i dont think they bother doing a thorough job on the figure if its in the bubble as i have had many with **** paint work that receive a 90 which would only get an 80 at best if lose

The figures behind bubbles that have been graded a 80 would these get a better grade as a uncirculated. As they would be mint. I have not noticed any graded less than 80. You dont really see many if not any loose graded at a 95. Not that i have noticed. Robbie Wan on ebay got a imperial gunner MOC the figure is graded a 95. Is it real hard to get a figure graded as a 95

If there is deterioration in the plastic used in the figure, that can mark down the figure grade (usually seen as a slight difference in the colour of the arms and legs.), not just the paint work. Also I had a kenner 12 back leia that received an 80 sub on the figure because the gun and tape had come loose in the bubble, so the F grade on MOC takes the weapon/tape into account also. The figure would have graded U85 if graded loose.

I think most figures on cards get 80-85 if they are undamaged/unmarked and to get the higher grades they look at how well they were done at the factory. eg; precision of painting to the facial features etc.

I expect the gunner is the easiest figure to grade as theres virtualy only the red visor and a bit of silver on the belt plus the emblem really which they have to mark down so hard to get a low mark unless really really crap

I don't believe Philip Wise had anything to do with setting up AFA - I could be wrong though................
