My only Star Wars picture

Going through the family albums to find me and toypics, I realised how different life was back in the 1970s. Not the camera whores we are today. I could only find a couple of pictures. We had a polaroid so pics were expensive as we were poor.. BECAUSE we were poor.. not really poor. Just not rich.

Heres me at xmas 1976 pre star wars with my much loved Six Million DOllar Man. I would have been 2, almost 3.


Heres me (left) and brother in the same bed when grandparents came to stay for xmas. I still have those Star Wars covers,


and here's me tremendously excited about my Buck Rogers set which sadly had to be returned cos the gun was faulty and it never got replaced.. still makes me sad now. If you see one for sale let me know..

Life was good back then. Simpler. Probably because we were kids. No idea what the adult world was like at the time

It sure was back being a kid back in the day - Christmas/Birthdays, being surrounded by toys, using your imagination to create awesome adventures. Nowadays by the time kids get to five they've grown out of toys and move on to mobile phones and computer games Great pictures matey.

Takes me back to the 1970's, times were hard but when Christmas or birthdays arrived there was plenty of excitement! Maybe thats why we get into collecting these toys now to relive the good times and try and get that opening present excitement again

I so loved Evel Knievel.. i had that bike as well.

Love those pics, I too had that Six Million Dollar Man. I've got some to show you that I'll upload tomorrow. Sadly no Star Wars that I have found so far but other toys you'll remember.

Love it. I still collect EK, Buck Rogers and Six Million Dollar Man.

Here's a few pics from my youth with toys in the background. I'm hopeful one day of finding some with Star Wars but no luck yet. My dad took these on slide film.

My brother on his birthday April 1975. I spy new Action Man helicopter pilot.


Christmas 1976 I think. Yours truly in the middle. Featured here besides Sweep is my middle brother's Action Man helicopter. I had many magic hours playing with that. I remember pressing the button in the side and the blades going round.


Another one from the same Christmas showing some of my eldest brothers presents including Action Man Gyrocopter. He is 8 years older than me.


My birthday March 1978. Obligatory blowing out candles shot - we have a lot of these other the years :roll: . I spy my beloved Marx Toys Playpeople.


Christmas 1981 I think. This is my favourite shot. Probably 6:00 in the morning we used to get a pillow case every year stuffed with toys and probably a main present that wouldn't fit in. I loved my Airfix HO/OO soldiers and this is one of 3 Assault sets I owned. I since collected Airfix too.


Early 1985. Finally one of the reasons I stopped playing with toys, I started with a ZX81 and then my favourite computer a ZX Spectrum 48K. My brother is to my left playing Knight Lore on the Black and White screen.


Would love to see other childhood photos, they don't have to be Star Wars.

I think most of us who are a certain age have the most amazing memories of the late 70's/early 80's years. They really were much more simple times before Internet/cctv/modern technology. Beautiful times that i am super nostalgic for a lot of the time, to the extent that I try to replicate lots of my memories to my 4 year old boy now.

I have an almost identical set of photos at my mum and dads; same clothes, haircuts, furnishings, and most importantly the toys. The one thing I want for my children is that they grow up with the same great memories I have from that era.

Hi Danny, welcome back mate by the way.

With my kids I have taken a picture of all the toys they received each birthday and Christmas, probably because I wish my dad had done the same. I have them all lined up so we can remember. They don't have the same love we do though and I gave them too much , sadly it's just a different time.

Playpeople Cowboys and Indians Superset! Loved those as a kid - been buying them on eBay ostensibly for my daughter to play with but love the box art on them though!

Great pics, evoking so many memories... 8) wish we still had some, but sadly we've been through all the albums and nothing so exciting to be seen
