Hey fella's,

I've got a bunch of loose figures up for sale at the moment and I have a bidder from the US with zero feedback bidding up some of my auctions, 10 bids to reach $10 and now I'm worried the other bidders are going to think I'm shill bidding. Anyone have any suggestions, should I cancel his bids and inform the other bidders? Worried it's some prick playing funny buggers.

Cheers Ryan

Aren't there settings that allow you to block bidders with less than 10 feedback? If there are i'd suggest ending the auctions and listing them again with this setting in place.

Ok, so just had a look and here's how you restrict bidders with a low feedback score-

At the bottom of the page when setting up your listing -

Click "add buyer requirements" and this pops up -

Thanks Pete but from what I can see it only lets you block bidders with feedback in the minus not zero.

I reckon ebay should make it policy for new accounts that you can only use a buy it now function until you have a feedback of 10 or over. Once you've reached the 10 feedback mark you can start bidding on auctions.

You could send a message to the bidder asking if they intend to buy? When I started out, I sent the sellers messages stating I was a serious bidder,
of course it's only words, but if they respond like a normal person, why not let them bid? That also gives them a better experience getting into buying on ebay,
wouldn't you think?

I find that newbies to the bay tend to do this because they are new to the system. Instead of putting one bid in with their maximum, they do small increments at a time and unfortunatly it does look dodgey. I've had this in the past and have let the auctions run with no problems. A small e-mail to the bidder might not hurt just to rest your mind.

I would sit it out, if they dont pay, you get your fees back.

Or if you really cant be bothered just email them to say you will cancel their bids, he is most likely hoping you will post them first class mail with no tracking, and claim he never got them, its a well used tactic.

So DEMAND he pays for tracking

He wouldnt buy them from the Uk when there are millions in the US.

Yeah and you can always block them once the auction ends. Then they won't be able to bid on your stuff anyway.

Everybody has to start somewhere...so I would give the guy a chance. As far as tracking goes, I always make sure my packages are tracked for all Ebay transactions........way to many people hoping there is no tracking...the minute they see the package is not tracked ....they decide that it never arrived....paypal then askes for your proof...when you do not have it.....the person gets a freebie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But...but...but you told me to start up a dummy account and bid them up for you?

:p

Hey Ryan. I think this guy you are referring to is a new member of the SWCC and has just set up an ebay account. Your auctions where recommended to him by Jase (jase1172stacey). So in this case you might be ok mate :)
