I have just listed a Yak Face that I purchases recently. In doing so I noticed that he had a white beard. Having not had a loose Yak Face for a while it didn't really dawn on me that it was strange but I have just checked on the rebel scum site and he definitely doesn't have them there

is mine a variant or has someone had their white pen out

My guess is this was painted at some point. There's no variation with a white beard as far as i know and it would be a little coincidental if it was discolouration.

You would be the man to know Pete - I presume none of your Army are going grey !

I have just had another look and if it is a paint job it is a bloody good one - I will take a couple more pictures and post the below - not sure whether I should take down the listing or not as i could either be selling a paint job or a bloody rare figure !!

Looks painted to me mate but then again seeing as your using Liam's camera it's still a little hard to tell. :D

Bloody hell - I didn't realise they were that bad !!

It is definitely a vintage figure with the correct date stamp but that would make sense having seen the new figure.

Think I need to have a word with the seller

I have added the pictures.

I have just had this back from the seller:-

I am a little bit confused too; I had the Yak for 10 years and of course i have never drawn/painted him - maybe a production error?

Hmmm - not sure what to think ?

  Guys I am sure those pictures look better than mine! Managed to get the flash off my pics now tho so there should now be a improvement! :)

hi
i sold the yak. didnt realize the wiskers :?
production error? paint job....from a artist :?:

i had ca. 10 years the yak...it was my "life-time" yak. i never paint any figure....

cord

Thanks for coming on Cord

I was not going to mention the seller as I didn't think that he had done anything wrong - it took me a couple of looks before I noticed it.

It's ok Liam (I mean Iain) you can always sell it to Tatsie- Grandpa Yak variant :)

Iain, i have checked ALL my Yaks and non of them have any kind of colouring on the beard/whiskers.
I am 99% certain this is paint. Have you tried washing it off?? That would be my first move if i were you. If it is factory done, which i really don't believe it is, it won't come off with just fairly liquid an warm water. Use an old tooth brush.

Just face it it's wrong so i will give you £10 to save any more embarrassment

On a serious note i think it looks right somehow and they should all have it .

Right - well I have given the Yak a damn good wash and clean and the white didn't shift at all. It honestly does look pretty realistic so if it was added after then they have done a good job

As no-one seems to heave heard or seen a white bearded Yak I have to assume that it has been painted as an after thought - so do I pull the ebay listing or just update the fact that it has this ?

I would update the sale with a note - "whiskers have a white tint. I suspect this is not an original feature" Something to that effect.

Yeah I'm with Pete on this. State it in the auction mate. I think if it was a variation the chances are it would have been picked up by now.

You can't fault him for going a bit grey. Im 28 and I'm already getting a few.
