Morning all.

I've not really had this issue before, and it has created quite an unexpected storm in my mind. Although nice, as it means there's not a lot of other concerns at the moment, it's a real pain!

I got a nice loose white Luke Stormtrooper without blaster or helmet, I then got a yellowed complete one so I could "kit bash" a nicer looking one together. The plan then to sell the yellow one to offset the cost.

However, aside from the yellowing on the torso, the yellow one is excellent condition. Great nose and hair, no dings on the body, good paint etc. etc. etc.

The white one, has some colour blushing, a very slightly crooked nose and a few dings in the torso.

So, my quandary, do I keep the yellow one instead as he's better condition (disregarding the yellow) or keep the more dinged one just because he is whiter??

An unexpected tough decision that only can I can answer, but has anyone else come across this quandary for themselves?

Cheers

I have been there before with other figures and with this big yellow damage then I would always choose the white one and try to upgrade the white one later.

I wouldn't be able to live with the Luke that smokes 40 Marlboro a day. 🙄
Keep the white one, once on a shelf you won't see the marks on him.

That's a good way of thinking, I've got the hard parts in the blaster and helmet now. Would be quite easy to keep an eye out for a nicer whiter one. Good thinking, thanks!

Whiter one definitely displays better so I would keep that one. You've got the accessories now which is the hard part - another loose figure that's a further upgrade will surely present itself in time mate ;-)

I'd always go with the whiter one myself. Unfortunately white figures don't stay white, degradation is inevitable. All my loose white figures were pure white ten years ago and now a few of them have slightly yellowed.
sorry to hear about that. Do you smoke in the house or keep them in sunlight ? The same do not happen to all my figures as far as I know yet.

No mate, I don't smoke. And they're never in direct sunlight. I think if they're in a room that has windows then they're still exposed to some indirect ultraviolet light. Unless you kept them in a dark room or in a box all the time I don't think you can avoid it. I have always had my collection on display because I want to see it everyday.

These two were absolutely flawless, perfect pure white when I bought them about 13 or 14 years ago. Now they have yellowed. Same with 8D8 and my Biker Scouts. All on the torso.

I do not have room at the moment to have my figures on display and when I had them on display they were not in front of a window. But I have not checked my white figures for some time and compared old pictures. I am sure some maybe could have changed because of bad plastic but I also think other things can be a reason for them to change. I am not 100% sure but I think I once I heard from a collector in usa that it also can have something to do with climate, he lived in a very hot state with a lot of swamp and if I remember correct star wars toy was not happy with that kind of climate, but I could remember wrong
