Just to add - for the most part I wasn't even using search terms or key words -it was a simple Vintage Star Wars>Carded>Newly listed..that was a direct link to whatever cards got listed. Sure I did search around the rest of ebay for hidden gems or things listed in the wrong places but for the most part I just used the category that was there, it worked for me!

I think that you have just proved my point there Josh. I am saying it is bad for seller because inexperienced buyers will not know what to remove from their searches - therefore they will be confronted with pages and pages of modern crap
It was a load better with the Vintage listing and I don't think that you will persuade anyone that the changes are for the better - or that people are just whining for the sake of it

Appreciate the search Josh it does help a bit but this is a good example of why this is so annoying: That search does indeed bring up a loads of Vintage but it overlooks auctions that don't use those search terms. Many of those auctions used to be in the Vintage category already so they didn't always have to included the word "Vintage" for example. It also means you get hit with everything at once so before you find a decent auction someone else will have already bought it while you wade through 13 pages of loose figures and broken playsets when you are just trying to find a cheap carded figure to buy.
I think you might be more used to searching this way because if I remember rightly the Au site had a basic Action figure category didn't it? I think we are so used to having dedicated sections for Vintage Star Wars that this change is really frustrating.

I used your suggestion and added MOC and it does help - ("Star Wars" vintage MOC, -2012, -VC, -2010, -30th, -otc, -target, -Jango, -barrissm, -TVC, -clone, -VOTC, -2011, -trilogy, -repro, -resto, -sith,) but is there a way to also search for terms like carded without creating a new search and replacing MOC with carded?
Ideally I want to use your search with these terms if I want to find carded stuff: MOC,carded,boxed,cardback,backer,on card, etc etc Otherwise it means a new search for each term?

What a heated topic. As for america, no carded figure section existed. You guys even had a resealed section (It always cracked me up). Josh is correct that you can find anything as long as you take the time to search. This is now like ebay was in the 90's. I never relied soley on the vintage catagory either, most deals where found mislisted and usually not in the vintage section. Now on the other side of the coin, I agree that just for general browising of vintage things I would search vintage, so now they have made it more of a quest and a challenge to find things. I compare this to say reference books that only contain vintage star wars toys vs. ones that have any and all star wars items. Just 500 more pages to flip through with no index

I still can't see how its a step forward if before I could do a wildcard search within the Vintage section I could cover most bases that I wanted. Now I simply can't without either making the search with far more conditions or have to wade through tonnes of dross. Not a step forward in any sense, shape or form.

Honestly. This is the best way to search eBay, you are checking over all catergories instead of just one at a time. The way you guys used to search, would of missed heaps of auctions IMO. Unless you were doing it this way before.
Don't get me wrong. I bet you could hit the vintage catergory and a heap of listings came up etc. But I bet never nearly as much as you will find, running your own search.
