This was my reply from ebay:

Hello Grant,

Thank you for writing to eBay with regard to selecting category while trying to list an item. It's my pleasure to assist a valuable eBay member like you.

Grant, I apologise for the delay in replying to your email and any inconvenience this may have caused. As part of our ongoing efforts in improving the features of the site, we've updated some categories. We're making these changes, based on research and feedback from precious eBay members like you, to create a more intuitive marketplace both for buyers and for sellers. This brings eBay more in line with industry standard classification. The new category structure is also better aligned with other eBay markets, helping to increase international trade opportunities. This is the reason, you are unable to find you prefered category.

I understand that it is indeed very difficult to adapt with something new, when you're habitual of using certain features for long time. Please allow me to expalin you why this change has been implemented and how it will help you.

This change is designed to help buyers to find the item easily and sellers to increase their item visibility. On over 43% of search results pages buyers search and browse using the categories and items specifics listed in the left hand navigation. By selecting accurate category and adding item specifics to listings sellers'll help ensure that their items show up in all relevant searches. This will reduce the search time for the item the buyers are looking for and also increase the visibility of the item.

I'm confident that with few days of usage, you should be liking the changes. If you are not satisfied even after few weeks or months of usage, please feel free to contact us back with your suggestions. We will be highlighting your feedback to our site developers so that they can use your inputs for any future changes.

Also, if you have a suggestion for improving eBay, or adding a new eBay category at this movment, we'd like to hear from you. Our product development team reads and evaluates the input that we get from our members. To send a category suggesation, please follow the link below:

Finally, let me assure you that if you have any further concerns/questions regarding my explanation, please reply back to us as we'll continue to keep this discussion open till it is resolved to your satisfaction.

Grant, I trust this is helpful and wish you all the best on eBay in the future. If I can be of any further help, simply reply to this mail.

Kind Regards,

Patronising cunts.

Replace the words "customer" or "Grant" with "idiot" and "moron" and the letter starts to say what they really mean.

Hello Moron,

Thank you for writing to eBay with regard to selecting a category while trying to list an item. It's an utter chore to assist an idiot member like you but if it gets you back spending money and getting ripped off right left and centre then i'm willing to give it a try.

Moron, I apologise for the delay in replying to your email but i was busy ironing my money and not giving a **** about you and your incredibly irrelevant problems. As part of our ongoing efforts to change things for the sake of changing things, we've ****ed with some categories. We're making these changes, based on ignoring all research and feedback from idiots like you, to create a more confusing marketplace both for morons and for idiots. This brings the almighty eBay more in line with lots and lots more cash. Ok dick-head?
The new category structure is also better aligned with other eBay markets, helping to increase international trade opportunities and basically make is a barrel load more money which, of course, comes before customer service, every time. ;) This is the reason, you are unable to find your prefered category and because you are a moron.

I understand that it is indeed very difficult to adapt with something new, when you're a ****ing idiot. Please allow me to crouch down to your infant like level, hands placed on knees, tilt my head sympathetically to one side and explain to you why this change has been implemented and how and how we don't really give two ****s if you like it or not. Kay?...

This change is designed to help all you morons to find **** loads of items that you don't really want to see cos we believe you all to be stupid enough to start buying it all because it's now being shoved down your idiot throat and this will make us **** loads more money. (*places hands on knees again and gets down to your level* remember how we talked about the money?...) By selecting accurate categories and adding item specifics to listings sellers'll help ensure that their items show up in all relevant or irrelevant searches. As long as you see more stuff, that works for us.

I'm confident, such as any genius would be, that with a few days of usage, even an idiot like you should be liking the changes and revert to the docile, drone-like behaviour of the rest of our minions obediently seeing stuff and buying stuff seeing stuff and buying stuff until all your money is gone. *disclaimer: we reserve the right to delete any members accounts if they run out of money*
If you are not satisfied even after few weeks or months of usage, please feel free to go **** yourself.

yours sincerely better than you,
ebay
xx

1) So they are making it more "intuitive" by making it harder to find the things you want? That is without resetting all your searches like Josh suggested.

2) Other Ebay markets and countries had **** category structures and so rather than bring everyone up to a decent level we are dumbing down.

what a ****ing ball ache! no vintage section, i havnt been online for a few days ive missed out on all this tomfoolery!

Pete you legend that is hilarious
