Hi guys ,

I have been thinking about this over the weekend " why do you collect SW " .

I do because of the nostalgia and the feeling of the toys when I was young , and trying to recreate that feeling. For me it's never been financial , as I lost as much as I have gained .

What's your story ?

Basically the same.

I also get a buzz from the challenge, tracking things down, completing a run/set and the visual display.

Several reasons, but I suppose the main one is that they look cool as hell.

There is a dose of nostalgia though - but I've been collecting far longer than I played with the toys, so much of my nostalgia is now about collecting in the 90's/2000s!

Yeah, it's the nostalgia kick. Nothing more, nothing less.

I bought a job lot of Star Wars Weeklies, recently.
Just flicking through them and looking at the old adverts etc, instantly transported me back in time.
The financial side just doesn't come into it, really.

Also, it makes you irresistible to the opposite sex............apparently.

Because you need something in life to make you happy and as I am currently single, it gives me a little bit of happiness to look forward to when I get home from work.

Also the nostalgia, there are other lines like action man too.

PS even if i did have a GF I would still collect star wars items :)

It is far better than me smoking crack, gambling and lying drunk in the street. Plus every guy needs a hobby, playing with yourself gets boring after a while.

Some sweet replies guys ,

Db94 you need to get out more sicko

Not sure it's better than crack

Keep them coming

Totally agree with the posts so far about the nostalgic part, most of my collection is the stuff I got as a child, and proberbly worth little to anyone except me but, I don't care. If/when we finally get the house finished, I'll have a bit more cash and I'll hopefully start buying some carded figures.
I still get goosebumps when I hear the opening notes of the Star Wars theme!

Another nostalgia story here, love the look of the vintage packaging and the figures, whats not to love!, i also collect modern, i just love the toys, and i'm happy to have them,

It's more than nostalgia, it's pure escapism. Not to a galaxy far, far away but from the 9-5 ratrace life has become since I "grew up". It transports me back to a happier time when the only things I needed to worry about was when I could go around my mate's house to watch a video from the rental place or if I was ever going to be able to persuade my parents that life as we know it would surely stop if I didn't get an AT-AT.

Happy days.

I love the feeling of being permanently skint. I've found SW allows me to facilitate this feeling better than most.
My psychiatrist Mr Lucas recommended it..... :)

First and foremost it is of course nostalgia, they were a massive part of both my childhood as toys and the 90s as a young collector. I've always been a bit of a delboy though so do enjoy the trading side of it. It's not the money, I take no pleasure from flipping things or ripping people off, I enjoy the whole trading process (searching, buying, selling, posting etc.)

You don't need Star Wars for that!
Get married, buy a big ****ing house, then make it bigger.....no money worries because you'll never have any!
I'm so very very happy.

I guess the common theme is we're all skint and happy

Thank the SW 's

You right Ed , suppose I love the wheeling and dealing as well

Money was tight in our household in the early 80's so i decided to start collecting the SW toys i wanted when i was a kid about 15 yrs ago. Most expensive SW toy i had as a kid was a speeder bike. Saw the actual film on telly for the first time with my grandparents in christmas 83 i think and was blown away by SW. My grandfather bought most of my childhood figures while on school holidays with him and he's still going strong these days at 91 yrs old. We're quite close and i recall the nostalgia of us visiting woolworths in his town and him buying one or two figures for me. I remember clearly choosing between a Biker scout or a AT-ST driver and picking the former and fast forward this year i decide to buy a MOC 77 back AT-ST driver simply because of the nostalgia factor. I still have that Biker scout btw.

Yea reliving Star Wars of past absolutely gutted I dnt even know what happened to all my stuff only had a few figures left in mum and dads loft but also love the buzz of trying to find bargains from boot sales markets and old shops just wanna find a warehouse full of it  same as all of us
