Who's Who - Introduce yourself!

Hello,

I have begun collecting vintage Star Wars figures and have joined the forum for useful information!
I really don't want to be scammed!

My first ever purchase online was of Orange Snake Yoda.
But I quickly realised his cane was from the 1995 Kenner line, not the 1980s one!

Shame :(

Welcome. You have come to the right place!

Hi all, I'm completely new to collecting Star Wars and to a forum like this so be gentle.
I've always been a fan since I was a boy. Return of the Jedi was the film out when I was old enough to know what was going on. The majority of the figures bought for me were from that film. That's why I was lucky enough to have a few last 17 figures hidden away in my parents loft.
On that subject I recently cleared out my parent loft to find over 80 figures loose in my toy box. I nievly decided to sell them on eBay. I didn't do to bad but I'm sure a more switched on fan could've made more for example I sold a nea mint yak face with weapon for£120.
Any way since selling 98% of my figures it's filled me with regret and made me realise how much I loved them.
So I'm starting it again as a 36 year old father. Having purchased some tat on eBay from some not so truthfull sellers I've been directed to a more trustworthy place. So here I am.
Fill me with knowledge and help a lost fan find his minty feet all the way to vintage bay

That makes me feel a little better.
How do I go about buying things from people on here.
I'm with PayPal so is it straight forward?

At the bottom of posts you'll see a pm button to send them a message. Paypal is the preferred method.
In the feedback thread there is feedback so you can see what others have said about the buyers/sellers.

Hi everyone i've just joined the forum so thought i'd better introduce myself...

My names Russ and i'm from the UK....i'm 44 (old git but i'm sure in good company  )

I'm from Leeds (born and bred)

I'm not really a collector of Starwars but do still have a large collection of my old toys from BITD (were always tought from my parents to look after stuff even back then so majority of the playsets, vehicles etc...I have are still in their original boxes, with the exception of the actual figures I have, but I do still have all the original weapons for each figure)...

Like I say i'm not a collector (well not of the vintage stuff anyway) but do have a large collection of the 'newer' stuff (POTF toys) that started to get released in 95' (think it was 95' anyway but could be proved wrong on that one)...I assume the newer stuff is kinda frowned upon from what i've read (here and other places dotted around the net  )...

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm just trying to get to grips with the forum, I'm slowly getting there
Trying to start up a collection for myself. Its a really nice buz trying to find figures.
Some peoples collections on here are mind blowing. Makes me want to spend all my money. I won't though so calm down mortgage people.
It's a massive minefield out there so to see that even top collectors have been stung with dodgy buys makes me sleep easier.
I like buying big bundles and hoping to come across gems. And selling some on.
I really want a Luke farmboy army in varying conditions. I just love the simple but effective look of him. A farmboy with a light sabre . How cool.
But my main focus will be first 12 and rotj.
I'm very eager to learn as much as I can so if people could help me along the way It would be very appreciated .

Welcome aboard John

Your in the best place to feed your habit, where you won't get stung as with ebay, and you will certainly have the opportunity to learn from some of the extepremely knowledgable guys on here.

Best of luck with the Farmboys, great figure :D

hi guys,
just registered and thought I'd say HELLO.
My name is Mark Jackson and I have just done a small piece for the podcast regarding part of my collection which has been sent to Vectis for sale this month.
I was advised to join the forum so here I am :)
I will get some pics of my collection uploaded in the near future as I still have LOADS of vintage stuff.
As I said, a lot has been sent to auction but I still have a collection of vintage MOC's, vintage store displays, boxed playsets, vehicles etc etc

Anyway that's me and I hope to speak again soon

mark

Welcome Mark and we look forward to seeing your collection although I guess I already have..(Vectis bit anyways!) :p

Hi, just registered so thought I would introduce myself.

I've always been a massive Star Wars fan, had a lot of the toys as a kid but as I suspect happened to many of you, my Mum donated them all to a school fate when I was more interested in computers and knew not what I was doing.

I only really began collecting in the last 18 months, after attending a Toy Fair with a friend from work.

I started by collecting the first 12, loose, with the plan to mount them in a frame (took a bit of persuading to get my girlfriend to agree to it!).

But as my friend warned me, it was a slippery slope and as I mentioned it's now got a bit out of hand. Now I'm trying to manage my addiction and pay for a wedding in September

My last purchase was a really nice Yak Face which I was very happy with.

But anyways, hi everyone!

Focus
- Vintage 3.75" Star Wars action figures

Looking For
- Lumat, Romba, Warok, Imperial Gunner, A-Wing Pilot, Amanaman, EV9-D9 and a Pop Up R2

Hello all!

I'm Ollie from France! (originally from Northampton UK)

Long time lurker, I thought it was high time I joined in all the fun being had here!

I'm an occasional photoshop contributor to the "other" vintage Star Wars podcast and it was the ensuing war that lead me to the SWFUK podcast ;) which I absolutely love.

Looking to finish my lose collection (only a few to go) and then get stuck into carded figures, I think I'm in the right place to get that done.

Looking forward to chatting with you all,

Ollie

Hi Ollie, welcome to the forum

Hi John, welcome to the forum, I a pretty sure you can find all the help you need here :D

I know the feeling about selling most of your collection. I did the same in 2001, I sold most of my childhood collection because I have replaced them with better figures.
Today I also want them back, but I am glad I did not sell them all :D
