Who's Who - Introduce yourself!

That was weird.. Anyway, it's taken me quite a while to get on this forum as the registration wouldn't accept my email for some reason. The FAQ was saying contact a mod but i couldn't as i couldn't register properly. I've already written one introduction and it mysteriously disapeared... But here i am now!

Hello!

I came across this forum whilst searching for Elstree Empire Day 2013 tickets. I've never seen a dedicated vintage Star Wars collecting forum before, so it's kind of like a dream come true for me as there's no subject closer to my heart :D

Like many of you i grew up with the original films and had the toys as a kid (see my profile pic). Incidentally that photo is one of my earliest memories. It was Christmas 1982 and i'd just got my lovely new AT-AT. You can see how pleased i was :p Many different interests came and went but Star Wars has been there all my life. The obsession has died down slightly. I no longer watch the films at least once a week and i don't collect so much if i'm honest. The thing for me these days is the back ground. The story behind the films. Saying that, every now and then something will take my fancy.

Being an avid collector throughout the nineties i managed to fill a small room in my parents house with various bits and bobs. Back then i had an impressive vintage collection but some of this had to go when i moved out. I did keep a lot of the really choice pieces but back when i was selling Ebay had just taken off in a massive way and the market was ridiculous. I must say that collectors these days don't know they are born. I mean compared to back in the day, remember going into toy shops and asking if they had anything left in the store room? Occasionally you got lucky. Now it's fairly easy to build up a decent collection just using Ebay. Not that i'm complaining.

What's left isn't a bad selection. I'll post some photos over the next few days.

I look forward to contributing to this forum

Where has my introduction gone?

Your first post is still showing as 'waiting for approval' to me. How your second post has been approved by someone, but not your first post is a mystery to me.

Thanks and good luck with Ikea, I do not hope it is a nightmare in Ikea in the UK. In Denmark, it is a nightmare to shop in Ikea :)

Good news! Went this morning and bought 1 Detolf. Have just suffered an injury taking it upstairs to the man cave.... So bloody heavy... I'll start a thread the showcase section soon!

Welcome to the forum! :) and to the other new members hope you all enjoy the banter on here

Yes they are bloody heavy, I went on my own to pick one up from Ikea a few months back, it nearly killed me - in fact it did weaken my fragile left hip, (which I broke in 2003) and caused pain for weeks afterwards, better now thank god, but a warning to me

Chaps - either get it delivered or take a mate with you!!

I'll get some photos on here. All my stuff is 'displayed' in the attic in a huge cabinet, and in rather a chaotic manner. I take some shots tomorrow.

Loving this forum already :p

Weird. Do you mind deleting it? ...the original still pending one that is..

I'm on it!

Thanks for that. Just so you know there seems to be an issue with new users creating accounts using Hotmail. It kept saying i had to check my accout for an email so i could register but the email never appeared. I tried my Mrs account and that was the same. I actually had to create a new Gmail account to register. Not to worry. It's sorted for me now. Cheers

Hi all !!! Just wanted to say hi to everyone! I am knew to the scene her. I collected movie posters but have know moved on to my childhood love. Still going through the threads here and learning but there is a ton of great stuff here. I havent made my first purchase yet, still learning and seeing what I want it to be. I am pretty sappy and want it to be special.

Welcome to the forum. If you're going to take your time then decide on a really cool focus like the ones in the limelight section otherwise you'll end up purchasing things left, right and centre which will cost £££s!
