Who's Who - Introduce yourself!

Hi all - Princess Raya, London. Born in '79 and started collecting Star Wars way before I was even capable of forming long term memories. I amassed an almighty collection of loose figures and vehicles. But then, one fateful day - disaster struck. I'm sure many of you already know what happened next... I shall recount the painful memories anyway, so that future generations can learn from our mistakes.

The year was 1988. Back in the heady days before repro weapons and ebay. If a kid was bored(?) of his toys and wanted to trade them in, he had to attend an event known as a "Boot Fair". For the younger generation not familiar with Boot Fairs, it involves getting up at the crack of dawn and selling old junk from the back of your dad's Cortina.

It all went. Amanaman, EV-9D9, Luke Stormtrooper - gone. The X-Wing, the AT-AT and Slave I, lost forever. It brings a tear to my eye thinking of those poor figures now being flogged from one ebay dealer to the next. And for what? What did a 9 year old need with the money away? Frittered away on frivolities such as sex, drugs and rock and roll, no doubt.

So now I've begun my quest to rebuild the collection. There were a few Boot Fair survivors: Boba Fett (I wasn't THAT stupid), R2-D2 Pop-Up Lightsaber (No saber, no sticker), a beaten up Snowspeeder and an AT-ST which has had a respray at some point in it's lifetime to cover up all the Ewok blood/felt tip. (The Empire won most of my Endor battles)

Pleased to now be a member of a like-minded community.

P.S. If anybody ever spots a one-legged Luke Farm Boy, then please - return him to his rightful owner.

Yeah welcome Princess Raya (not sure how you prenounce that) :? Great post and your at the right place.

I'll look out for a one legged Luke as well, I've got a spare leg, but it's AFA graded.

I look forward to your future post's. 8)

Hi all, longtime fan born in 1980.

Lucky enough to have a Father that instilled the values of never getting rid of a package or losing a weapon. Had a very decent collection when I decided to complete it whilst an awkward teen. Mainly vintage loose figure based. Now at the stage of collecting mint versions of those "battle worn" figures and/or variants.

Also keen on picking up a set of loose Ewoks or Droids figures. Though never seen them in the wild!

Look forward to posting.

Jonny :)

Welcome guys! You're in the right place ;)

As theforceuk says, don't worry about disagreements from time to time- makes the place more interesting. At the end of the day, we're all 'Utd' with a common purpose ;)

Evening all, Baron Crowf here. Although I've been a member for a while I haven't posted anything but will be more visible now so time for an introduction.

Introduced to the forum by Hoth Jim about a year ago and present at this weekends Farthest From. Inspired by the knowledge of the guys I met as well as the curry and ale!

Still have my childhood Star Wars toys from the 70's/80's but very limited knowledge of the toy range so this weekend as well as regularly talking to Hoth Jim is an education for me.

Interested in collecting GI Joe Cobra figures personally but am endlessly fascinated by Star Wars and Baroness Crowf is far more of an authority and collector than me to be fair.

Thinking about starting a Wrestling thread in the "Off Topic" section in the near future.

All the best and see you in the future.

Hello y'all,

I've been a massive SW fan since back in the day and for some reason I've recently fell back in love with the collectables side, although I've yet to dip my feet in and actually buy anything as I'm trying to re-educate myself with stuff like repos, reseals, Toni's etc etc and the current prices it's probably not a good idea to splurge but I'm getting close! :D

My name is Ben and originally from Manchester but now living on the West coast of Scotland, fell in love with the SW universe when the movies were first released and had ton's of the toy range which I of course chewed up and spat out and sadly only have half a dozen figures which I came across in a recent move but getting back into it and searching around it's jogging memories and scaring me how much of this stuff I had!

After I stopped collecting I got into gaming and that kept my SW fantasies alive and kicking with most memorable game being SW:Galaxies, helping build one of the first cities in the world and moisture farming on Tatooine while slaying Womp rats was much fun but now waiting for SW battlefront for my next pixelated pleasures!

Now I'm getting back into collecting think it's best to start small and get a mintyish set of loose figures and whatever else I can pick up relatively cheap, so you might see me around a bit and I look forward to getting to know the place..MTFBWY

Great first post Boba A Feet - take your time and enjoy building up your collection again. I'm counting the days until the new Battlefront game as well :D
