Hey everyone,

My name is Alistair. I am very new to figure collecting. My father had a full set of 12 backs which, after he died, got passed through family members for keepsakes. I am looking to start my own collection after being a lifelong Star Wars fan. I am currently building my first set of Stormtrooper armour and my second R-Unit Droid. I work in a comic shop and run a comic con, as well as being a tutor, web developer and I've just started my own online comic store to shift my collection.

I stumbled across the site when looking for information on collecting and hope to learn a lot from you all to build my collection. I know there are a lot of pitfalls but I'm hoping I can learn.

Thank you.

Hi im new, obviously, huge fan of the vintage line, and also have a large clone wars era collection, plus extensive star wars lego collection.
fairly new to collecting, i inherited a good joblot from my grandparents and held onto them until i could start enjoying them. very new to trying to find bargins, joined a few FB groups and was shocked what people are asking for loose crappy figures! thought it would be best to join a UK based group. lets see if you lot are any more normal!

Collecting Focus: just want one of everything, currently about 50% of the way, mostly need vehicles now, and more obscure charecters. at current state i have two Ikea Deltofts on display full of my kenner figures and playsets.

Character Focus: imperial, especially endor ie: speeder bikes, scout troopers, at-st.

Collecting interest: I enjoy loose played with toys that have been loved and enjoyed, not preserved MOC's i'd be afraid to handle
i especially enjoy trading vehicle parts and figures i have duplicates of for ones i dont, its way more fun than just shopping on eBay. however so far i have avoided any repro stuff in my collection and want to keep it that way! rather have empty hands than fake weapons.

Looking For
45 figures to complete my line
At-St loose, already have top cannon
AT-AT cranium, chin guns, bulb cover (yeah right)
Ewok village loose for awesome endor diorama.
reb. troop transport

I've decided it's time to pull my old stuff out. Fairly extensive collection thats been sat doing nothing for too long so thought I'd at least start to catalogue it all and get some valuations etc. Having had a look around this site has already proved very useful so thought I'd say hi.

Looking For
Right now recovering the Star Wars toys I had when I was a kid.

I just registered here. I'm mostly on the rebelscum boards. I was alerted to these boards because a collector buddy of mine alerted me to a couple items i'm currently seriously looking for.

I hope to find a bunch of new contacts and good discussions on here!

Welcome all recent joiners. Good to see so many new members in a month. This is certainly a great place for completing your collection through trades or sales.

What it really does well at, though, is specialist knowledge. It's always great seeing collectors bringing their collections out of lofts and seeing what's there as there's usually some rare stuff.

Hope you all stick around and get involved. It's a lot less dramatic than Facebook 'round here. Mostly.

Hi there - just joined the group, but had seen members of it when I attended Celebration Europe last year at London Excel.

I have been collecting since I was a kid with the original vintage release and whilst I have many of the vintage line (just missing 3 of the last 17) many of my figures have obviously been played with over the years. I still pick up modern items - but have found it difficult in the UK to find a full range and in recent years Hasbro seem to have forgotten UK collectors totally.

I have been involved in a number of UK Star Wars communities and did run my own trading site for a bit - www.wattosjunkshop.com

I have a number of boxed ships and Palitoy cardbacks that I saved from my childhood. Pleased to find UK collectors here and will get involved in the group in any way I can.

Collecting Focus: Just started really so working on a set of graded first 12 (either already graded or loose mint and get them done myself), then will work on loose mint/ near mint for the rest. Hopefully leading to a full figure collection eventually, we will see.

Character Focus: Will probably give Luke some focus at some point. I like his variations the best.

Collecting interest: A full set of original loose figures (not fussed about variations or super rares like vinyl Jawa etc., just one good example of each).

Looking For: At the moment first 12 Vader, Obi-wan, Tusken, R2D2, C3P0, Death Squad Commander, Jawa. Mint/ near mint with weapons.

Welcome.
Good luck with your collecting, enjoy the hunt.
There's a lot of knowledge on here from guys that are more than willing to share it.

Collecting Focus: Vintage Starwars MOC's. POTF being my favorite line and main focus right now.
Character Focus: None really but I have quite a few Luke Farmboy's & Chewies.

Collecting interest: Vintage Star Wars, Vinyl Records (mostly 70's & 80's Disco, House & Synth Pop stuff)

Looking For: The "Big 5" POTF MOC: Yak Face, Anakin, Gam Guard, AT-AT Driver, Nikto. Totally out of my price range so beaters are welcome ;-)

Big fan of the podcast BTW. Keep up the great work!

Hello, I'm Tim

I used to collect vintage (mid 90's to mid 00's), had a small collection of Palitoys (12, 20 and 30 backs) - but sold it all many years ago. The only thing I kept was a loose Power Droid - which I've held onto since the 80s. Recently bought the Meccano Trilogo handbook as a vintage refresher -- great book with lots of variant info (mainly for the trilogos, am not a huge fan of GDE - but do remember my original Leia was on a square card bought from a European holiday in the early 80s - wish I'd kept that one carded!!). Thought I'd register a profile on here as I've been surfing recently and you guys have some great info (am also on RS since the early 00s)

Haven't got a particular collecting focus this time round - think I'll leave the Palitoys alone though after checking some of the recent prices on Vectis!, am surprised how much the market has moved on in the last 10 years, but it's great to see so much interest in the hobby

cheers,

Tim

Collecting focus: Would like to collect some of my childhood figures (ROTJ) for display on shelves around my man cave. Did have a previous spell of collecting during my mid 30s but sold them off. New films got me nostalgic again!

Modern items appealing but got to focus on what I would like to view whilst chilling in my space. Do not trust popular online auction sites so seeking original and authentic figures even if play worn a bit. Original weapons, etc, a must.

Regrets: Not buying more MOC figures from a car boot stall in WSM during the mid 90s. He had hundreds!

Always open to experienced advice and guidance and joined this forum for such prior to restart.

Hi all!
I'm very new to this so please bear with me! I have one more day off tomorrow before I go back to work after Christmas and plan to start cataloging my vintage figures, ships and other memorabilia. It's all sat in the loft and deserves a good home where someone can appreciate it!
I have a quick question that I'm hoping will help start me off... My dad used to be a lithographic printer, and printed the original cardbacks where he worked. Being the obsessed son, I got any spares given to me! So I have a number (need to check but maybe 15 or 20) of original, unblemished cardbacks. Figures were never mounted on these so there are no rips or tears. I see lots of posts about used and replica cardbacks, but nothing like this - anyone got any thoughts about their desirability/if they'd be of interest to anyone?
Sorry for the ramble!
Cheers, Stu
