Hello fellow Star Wars lovers, I'm interested in getting in contact with collectors in the Norfolk area (UK). I'm a photography student in Norwich and am really interested in a starting a project documenting collectors. My self and my dad are really big Star Wars fans and have a nice collection ourselves. I'm interested in doing a project about collectors of all sorts and wanted to kick it of with Star wars as its what I myself am the biggest fan of. If any of you are interested in taking part please get back to me as soon as you can. I'll also give you more details of what I actually want to do. Either just reply on here or feel free to email at [email protected]

Looking forward to hearing from you guys

Hi Deborah, welcome to SWFUK you've taken your first step into a larger world :D

Thank you for all of your welcomes, wish I joined sooner :)
But still havent found anyone willing to take part in my project :/
Please ask around for me? :)

Welcome to all, you'll love it here......or else!
Oops, sorry my dark side slipped out there, hee!

Hi all, I'm a toy collector. I collect any toy from various franchises which I fancy, generally new unless it's too expensive. I always keep my figures unopened.

I was a child during the 90's re-release of the films (I'm 21 now). I've always loved the magic of the Star Wars franchise, there's nothing quite like it. I've been reading about vintage figures and lurking the forum for well over a year now but I thought I'd introduce myself.

There's no way I'll ever be able to afford carded vintage figures so I've decided to buy vgc/mint figures, and put them in reproduction cards. I know many people are against this but I definitely won't be reselling and the cards are clearly labelled as reproduction (beggarscanyontoys). The plan is to get the first wave of 1977 figures and a millennium falcon. There's something about hearing about all the hype during the initial release which makes me nostalgic... even though I wasn't even born at the time! I've just ordered a Chewbacca and the 1977 version cardback to have a go with and hopefully it'll come out ok.

I've also known about the "Blue Snaggletooth" for a while and am hoping to get one with an AFA grade at some point. I find the whole story behind them really interesting.

As far as star wars toys go, I have a boxed vintage collection AT-AT, Sideshow desert sands Stormtrooper and a Boba Fett. I'm planning on picking up the upcoming Vader, I had the ANH version but sold it in anticipation for this release.

So there's my story. Thanks for reading and I hope to get to know you all during my time here!
Chris.

Hi Lars and welcome.... don't worry, when I first joined I had an opinion that repro wasn't harmful, but the guys here took only 10 minutes to convert me back from the dark side

Welcome Chris AKA Lars :D

I think putting your figs in a repro cardback is a bad idea but as you stated you will not be selling them :? But it is a great idea to mark the cards as repro so if for some reason they do get sold its know that the cards are fake. But IMO I wouldn't, what I would do is try and buy original cardbacks with the bubbles (yes they can be found) still attached or not & re-seal them. At least it would be all original, but remember to keep a record that they are re-sealed for the sake of future collectors :D

Anyways enjoy the forum :D

Cheers
June

Hi all,

My name is Karl, I live in Scotland. I'm fairly new to this forum, I've always been a big fan of star wars and
the vintage toy lines. I like many used to have a collection as a kid but no longer do, it's time to buy back my childhood. I probably should have introduced myself sooner, but hey i've never been one for doing things the right way around. I already know a few of you guys and have been made to feel very welcome.

Karl.

Welcome Lars :D

Agree with June, great idea to ensure repro cards are clearly marked, but you can buy mocs at very reasonable prices, if your not looking for graded quality
The guys on here are very trustworthy and do some fantastic deals
If like me budget is tight, then time patience and a clear idea of the run you want will pay dividends over time
Recard s, can give you an instant collection, but they will always be trying to be something they are not :D

Have a look at the FS threads on here and you'll get a good idea on prices

Welcome to the forum Karl....enjoy :D it's all good on here
