white pale / pink faced european figures

How come the white face euro figures. Ref esb figures dengar,han hoth,hrs, are white painted faces but are pink underneath. Seems a random thing to do? Why didnt they leave them pink

Good question, to which I have no idea. Although Han Hoth should have a pale face as he's not been in the sun much.
