I just received a ROTJ DSC carded figure and noticed this sticker over the no. Does anyone know what or why this would be? Thanks

These are SKU stickers, they were used to change the assortment number of the figures without having to reprint the cards with the new number.

On some cards, SKU stickers are quite rare and on others they are common. Not all that interesting to most but they are something that focus collectors get a kick out of (as it's considered a variation).

Cheers for that answer, Joe. I was just wondering about the sticker on my MIM Biker Scout: I have two and the one with the Anakin sticker offer has an SKU sticker on it. Dumbass questions but did the assortment numbers determine what you retailer received in their box of figures? Has anyone ever managed to detail what assortment numbers included what assortment?

There is a list or the original SKU numbers on wikipedia but thats as far as my investigation went

Cheers Carl. I'll check it out, but I'm guessing is not "SKU 915580 = 3 x Luke FB, 2 x DV, 2 x Emperor...., etc."?

Oh that's pretty interesting, cheers Carl! Especially as I now have another Biker Scout SKU to add to it: My non Anakin offer, light grey pistol, Made in Mexico Biker Scout had SKU No. 70820 to and my Anakin offer (stickers) dark grey pistol, Made in Mexico Biker Scout has SKU No. 71590.

I feel like I've descended into the world of train spotting

I'm not sure the SKU number directly relates to the case assortment Si, I think it's more to do with each figure.

Pulled some pics from an old RS thread which shows a POTF shipping case with the assortment numbers #69570 & 69710:

..and this shows the figures that would have come in those cases:

If you look at Carl's list from Wikipedia you'll notice that all the POTF figures SKU numbers begin with 9 and not 6 like the shipping boxes.

I don't *think* anyone has any documentation explaining why certain SKU numbers were changed over time but I doubt it was for a particularly interesting reason (as with most changes of this nature).

Interestingly I only just noticed that there are two SKU stickers that can be found on 8D8:

Card SKU for 77 & 79 backs: 71210

SKU stickers seen on 77A: 71580

SKU stickers seen on 79B: 71580 & 71590

I don't think I actually realised 71590 existed before today..so I've learned something new myself! Also means I have something else to look for! It never ends!

Do you know if there is a similar list for Trilogos Joe?

While I can't remember seeing any surface myself, there almost has to be doesn't there? Dave might have some paperwork that shows some of the assortment numbers for Palitoy stuff (hopefully I've not just forgotten him posting them! If so, sorry Dave :p )

From what I've seen from opened cases of Palitoy & Clipper figures from the ROTJ/Trilogo period there seemed to be a real mix of everything inside (ROTJ Palitoy, ROTJ Kenner and Trilogos). The only time I would imagine the shippers contained nothing but Trilogo figures would have been right before the POTF figures came out (providing they had gone through their remaining ROTJ stock) and then obviously once the POTF figures were released.

Thanks for the response, there is some really interesting material to read through and i never thought that one sticker would turn into quite a lot of research. I have never seen one before, or never really noticed one. I think it is because i have one on my card and it is overlapping is really why i noticed it.

Someone has an order form for Palitoy cases, I think it's probably Dave Tree.

The ones I know are:

33330 48x mixed Palitoy 12 backs
33425 60x mixed Palitoy 45 backs (check a 45a card back, you get numbers 7-26 but no Dengar, min. 12 different)
33426 60x mixed Palitoy 45 backs (numbers 27-45, min. 12 different)
33427 60x mixed Palitoy 45 backs (numbers 1-6 plus TFP & 4LOM, min. 6 different)

Sorry should've said, whilst they are shown on the Kenner cards, they aren't shown on the Palitoy cards themselves, but they mean the same thing.

Edit: I'm butchering this  Palitoy number are the case number which contain an assortment of figures (unnumbered cards), whereas for Kenner the number on the Moc is the catalogue number of individual figures, which then fit into a Kenner case assortment with a different number  I think!

I always thought these numbers were just a simple product code for that particular card/figure, didn't know it got so technical..! Interesting read.

Essentially that's still really all they are, it's just interesting (for us geeks) to see that they changed over time I suppose! I found it cool that Kenner did the exact same thing to the shippers too.

Great thread lads. Proper info. Easy to find in a few years. Forums rule.

Yeah this is a proper thread with great info, still trying to understand it though.

Train spotting...SKU you

This is the type of thread that shows there are always new things to learn, geeky or not, it's all about vintage SW, so that makes it interesting.
