What happened to your childhood collection?

I sold all my star wars stuff back in 1990 at a bootsale! I remember how quickly i sold everything as well! All my figures were complete and almost brand new condition. I had the ewok village, Jabba the Hutt, 2 tie-fighters, tie - interceptor, 2 X-Wing fighters 1 battle damage one, 2 snowspeeders, millennium Falcon, 2 AT-ST's, 3 AT-AT'S, 2 speeder bikes, cloud city ship, wampa, rancor monster, Jabba's band, Imperial transporter, all the mini ewok stuff like catapults, flying wings, mini tank, rebel radar, mini sand skiff, shuttle, rebel transporter ship, B-wing , 2 Darth Vader storage cases and nearly 100 figures most of which had all the accessories & weapons. I had so much but i regrettably sold it all under 2 hours and only got £150 for everything! Now i'm trying to collect them all again.

Jesus! 3 ****ing AT-AT's!?!? 2 of everything else!? You were spoilt man

Still got all of them! Bit the tip of the lightsabers though as a kid and lost most of the guns. Favourite figures are my loose Luke Bespin and Han Solo in his original fatigues. ERG is a bit of a sicko as well. Boba Fett was still sat in Slave 1 from Childhood when I dug them out of the garage- karma.

Fortunately I was the younger relative to whom the Star Wars stuff was passed onto which seems to have been the fate for many people's collections.

Still got them, pretty much a motley crew, including a pink stormtrooper (been round the washing machine in a coat pocket), a slightly melted Hoth Rebel Commander (old school battery leak) and Darth Vader's down on his luck cousin who had to make do with a piece of bin bag for his cape and a toothpick for his sabre. Glad to have them even if they are really crappy.

I still have everything..the problem is it is mixed in with everything I have purchased over the decades as an adult.

Got the same problem :( Sold a handful of figures when I was around 12-13, but thankfully kept around 15. Kept my X-Wing and Snowspeeder (boxed). Got their weapons as well. Trouble is, I'm not 100% sure on a couple of them whether they were part of my childhood collection, or if I bought them later. I know I had them as a child, but not sure if they're the exact same ones. Wish I'd put a sticker under their feet or something!

I believe all my stuff is still at my Mum's who I have not spoken to for 8 years after a falling out when my Grandmother died. Let's say I assume it's all there as she has an issue with hoarding and not throwing things out. My sister has moved back in to help her out so I'm half tempted to ask her to let me in there one day she's out to collect it all. It won't exactly be in top shape. There will be accessories and parts missing, not to mention I remember them needing a good clean, and that was 20 years ago.

On a side note I fell out with my dad for nearly 15 years. Just sorted it out this year and it's the best thing I ever did. If it's at all possible try to mend things. Life is too short 8)

I'm not sure if any of my figures are in my collection. I have a Rancor that might be original. Can't be certain though. Pretty sure it all got binned during various house moves. Living with separated parents this kind of stuff always happened when I wasn't there

To be honest mate, my Mum was a nightmare, and it was a blessing in disguise lol. I regularly meet up with my sister for dinner, and she tells me she's even worse.

Unfortunately for me mine is long gone like many others
I was good enough to keep everything all the way through childhood until I was married
After things went pear shaped and eventually I left my then ex wife, I returned the next day to pick up the rest of my stuff only to find she had tossed everything I had left into the garbage, long gone as a way to get back at me
Lesson learned
Next time before I take any clothes or work gear I will make sure it my collection that's first out the door

Yup mine is all long gone sacrificed to the gods of childhood play, the only figures in which I distinctly remember the moment of loss were Nien Numb and Boba Fett. Both buried in the garden due to battle field injuries, man I was pissed when I lost Boba.

Still got all mine apart from some boxes that got chucked out in the early days. Think my mum made me give a prune face to a friend because I had 2 of them. A lot of my childhood stuff has started coming out of the boxes for my son to play with. :)

:D Yes i was a bit spoilt when i was a child, but Star Wars meant a lot to me when i was a child and it still means a lot to me now too. I had so much fun playing with star wars with friends and on my own. I forgot to mention above i also had the Slave I and 2 Ewok villages :D

I'm fortunate to still own all of my childhood collection.. And in fact it is the bulk of what I have (other than modern released stuff). Admittedly this is mainly loose figures and a few loose/boxed ships.

My only regret Is that although I did retain most of the boxes for my Falcon, AT AT, B-Wing, Y-wing, Tie Fighter and snow speeder.. the boxes are absolutely ruined with old orange celotape.. :? .. I remember packing them all away nicely in the mid/late eighties and sticking them in my mums loft but covered them in this nasty tape.. oh well at least I still have them.

I'll get some pictures up one day soon.

Nice one! I seriously regret selling all my Star Wars stuff at a boot sale 25 years ago. I wish i had somehow forced myself to pack them all away in boxes and put them in storage rather than give it all away for £150 or so. In didn't have any of the original boxes though so i stored all my figures in big plastic crates and 2 Darth Vader heads. I look forward to seeing those pics of your collection though. :)

You might be able to save them, some of the boxes are pretty hardy and can survive a good clean.

tbh I think they're are too far gone but would be OK as a pictorial reference I suppose.

I'll honestly try and get photos of them this weekend and get them posted up.
Thanks

One thing I feel lucky about is having photos of my childhood collection. Only this week my stepmum posted another on Facebook. It's a photo of a photo so pretty bad, but she's mailing me the original. Picture shows pretty much the same as my profile pic but taken elsewhere in the house next to my baby sister instead of me :)

The one thing I regret is not having any childhood photos. I still have my original 12 figures and landspeeder. The only thing missing was Leia's blaster. Buying a new blaster on ebay got me back into collecting back in 2005.

The story of how I "found" my childhood figures in my large collection of loose figures in 2014 is here:-

This is like ripping open old wounds! I told the story when I first started posting a year back.

http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3797&start=4230

Basically all my childhood and subsequent vintage purchases were in a storage unit my brother was renting. It was our joint childhood collection so I thought it was in safe hands. When I started asking him about getting it out he was always evasive about it (i'm working, not sure when I'll be free etc) Turns out he was in arrears with the rental payments and they had confiscated the box and gave the contents to charity. I was devastated. We didn't speak for a year as I was so pissed about it. I would have paid any money to get those items back! All gone to a bunch of scalpers probably.

He regrets it and we're back on normal terms again but it does cut me up sometimes especially when talking to my own son. I still have a couple of childhood photos and I can remember every detail of where and when I got everything. What bugs me is we looked after the stuff so well, through so many house moves, always keeping the accessories and weapons in a tin box to ensure they wouldn't get lost - and it was all gone in one fell swoop. Recent stuff that I had acquired also in there was about 50 of the novels, about 6 or 7 sealed palitoy minirigs, MIB speeder bike etc etc. :(

I never quite got to the bottom of things, but I think my Mum gave away mine and a load of Action Man stuff to a friend of the family who I have no contact with now. It's nice to think he might have them now, but I doubt it very much.

I found my old Ben with no cloak or saber in a box of Play People stuff and rescued him and now he has pride of place with the rest of my stuff. I enjoy the irony of putting him next to high value figures like Yak and R2 pop-up. In reality, he's worth hundreds of times what they are.
