Hey Wayne!

I have heard of retailers packaging mini rigs together before, looks like there is a stock code/assortment number on that example in your picture so its a good bet it originated from a store as part of some kind of offer.

Are the two mini rigs just sealed together with tape?

Very cool piece, not seen one before! That's one of few things I think would actually look pretty cool AFA graded. It would also be interesting to see what they put on the label.

I've seen a few of them before, just a different way of packing/selling mini-rigs. Pretty cool tho.

I want to say I've seen these at some point, but I'm not positive. As Joe knows my memory is getting rusty as I'm getting older. :)

The sticker on the top should coincide with a catalog like Sears, JC Penny, Montgomery Ward, etc. I'll see if I can find out which one it should be. Some of those have scans online that you can search for in google. I'd imagine it would be an '83 or '84 catalog.

Also, nice find on that one!

I've found the 655 number is from J.C. Penny. I haven't been able to find scans from the catalog though.

It would seem j c Penney did bundle mini rigs together in this way. Here is anexcerpt from one of their catalogues. It mentions this packaging arrangement.

No idea on value though sorry Wayne

Im talking about the bit at the bottom where it mentions that POTF mini rigs were bundled together by J C Penney with individual stock codes. If they did it for the POTF line then it is possible they did it for the ROTJ mini rigs too.

Chris.
