Vintage die cast advise

Hey guys just looking for some advise I thinking of maybe starting to collect the vintage die cast ships I think they look great and look even better displayed, so was just wondering is there much I should look out for such as easily over looked broken parts or reproduction parts ? Rough cost per vehicle ? Any information will be appreciated

Spoons is yer man for the die casts mate.

You can put together a loose set cheaply and relatively easly. Carded and boxed are a different ball game. Recent sales are showing prices going up rapidly, especially for good examples with clear bubbles. They're a bitch to find undamaged though.

I'm pretty sure there are repro Y Wing bombs and blockade runners out there so be careful.

I have two carded die cast ships: Imperial Tie Fighter and Darth Vader's Tie Fighter. Both from the Kenner Star Wars ANH line. I bought the Darth Vader's Tie Fighter very cheap and didn't know it was the Canadian bilingual version unpunched. They sell for far more, but at the time I wasn't aware about the different kinds of releases. Sadly enough the Imperial Tie Fighter is the regular Kenner edition, still looking for a Clipper version

Great line to collect and you should be able to pick up most lose ships for £20-£30

Unbelievably there are now 3D printed blockade runners for the imperial cruiser, repro Y wing bombs and Landspeeder windscreens - not sure if the loose parts of the falcon and X wing have been reproed yet.

For the most part broken parts should be obvious but your best bet is to buy from respected sellers on here - SWFUK is repro free!

I've just started myself with collecting diecast, I would add that the loose Tie Bomber is a bit scarce and pricey at around £150 ish. However, yes all other loose vehicles are quite easy to get at reasonable prices.

How scarse is the tie bomber ? Do they come up for sale very often ?

Relatively, condition is always an issue though, especially loose - trying to find a nice mint pure white one is a bitch. Trying to find a boxed one with a clear bubble is extremely hard.

Prices are on the way up? Damn - I've been meaning to buy a TIE Fighter MOC for ages but never got around to it.

Prices are pretty stable IMO two Clippers and a regular Kenner TIE all sold for £90-£100 in the last week or so

Mint unpunched Palitoys are going for crazy money in terms of die cast but not when compared to regular MOCs

Great link Mark - is the control room section 3D printed? Looks a little rough and I've never seen an Imp Cruiser missing that part
