Vectis Museum Sale

I can understand why the POTF2 pre-prod stuff is going up, just look at how crazy vintage prototypes have gone recently. Revenge proofs were £100-200 until a couple of years ago, now even the **** characters are £500+ even though everyone knows there are 50-100 of each so not even as rare as some production stuff. And prototype figures seem to be minimum $5000 these days, again used to see these up on RS fairly frequently for hundreds of dollars 10 years ago.

But the production stuff, yes madness.

Goes to show some of the 41's, with none being debut cards, just aren't as popular as the 30's and some 45a.

I honestly thought the 41 Han, at £1k was a steal, you just don't see many 12 bk characters on a Palitoy 41.... But I guess it's a bit of a specialist collecting area therefore not as many folk going after them???

Totally agree that it's "due" to go up given everything else becoming unaffordable, but I don't understand why it's gone zero to this overnight. I bought a Tessek test shot here barely a month ago for £30 and it even came with the loose production figure and included postage! Andy (Plantman) has had bundles of the things for sale for a while, plenty at less than £100. Still struggling with turning down the very cool Wampa for the £150 I think he's asking. But these were going for £300-£500 + 25%. That's just insane. I wouldn't have expected to see those prices for another 4 or 5 years if ever. Let's face it, they've barely moved from the late 90s when you were paying between £20-£80 dependent upon the character.

I guess you could argue all this about the POTF II production stuff as well as the Vintage that sold at Vectis, too: at least 90% of the prices were way over the top and this is just another example of that.

Shite , I won the Palitoy Death Star !

I can just hope it's complete , however the some of its parts is worth more than what I paid .

Is there anyone going near Vectis over the next few days , don't want to wait a month , there is a couple of nice complete figures in it !!!!! :D :D :D :D

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Debut is where popularity lies so a figure, no matter how rare (the Luke was the first one to come up for public sale for as long as I have been collecting!) will not necessarily have a large number of people battling over it. Maybe a niche Palitoy collector or focus collector, but other than that, they don't have the demand.

Can't believe it, I actually won something.

Put lots of bids in last night, just logged in, and I've won the Palitoy Bespin Guard

45b? Was tempted and thought the price OK as you see plenty of 45as but not so many bs.

Well done, great feeling. Those Palitoy BBG are a bargain for anyone to looking for their first Palitoy piece.

POTF2 test/first shots have gone up in demand (especially bright coloured ones) alongside vintage but at a much lower rate, fett protos have always commanded high prices, i think the nigo auction fett went for $1200? plus commission ect.

The vader was a surprise but when you get people competing i suppose thats what happens lol

I knew that Palitoy Dengar would go for big money - rare as hens teeth that bugger.

Third one I've come across in 6 months, not so rare but very desirable as a probable debut card (still no real proof of 41 back) Everyone had major issues including this one which put me off bidding big.

For a one-off unique piece I thought the printer's plate thing for the screening of ROTJ went cheap at £560. Some of the prices achieved could make that sale of the year. Not to everyone's taste and hard to know what to do with it but a fascinating piece and rare survivor.

Agreed, I rather liked that piece. In the end I decided not to go for it as it is too far removed from my focus.

Can anyone with log-in powers tell me what that Hildebrandt poster with the signatures went for? As mentioned I'm worried the buyer was misled by the description on that one. It was Lot 5307.

I'm clearly not looking hard enough :D Been looking for 2 years and this is the first one I've seen for sale - I only want a cardback and not even seen one of those either :(

Hammered at £850 - that's approx. £1,050 with fees.

£1,050 :(

By my reckoning that's a trimmed down Factors poster, £10 on a good day. Plus the two signatures, and they also seem to be worth around £10... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SDCC-Tim-Greg-Hildebrandt-Hand-Signed-Star-Wars-Promo-Card-Bonus-Brothers-/201623430407?hash=item2ef1b16507:g:YjwAAOSwubRXGBV-

Unless that picture frame is worth a grand... :( Really sad.

Yeah, I must admit the Vectis description was a bit misleading. Saying it was used in UK cinemas makes it sound like that particular poster was used, but it can't have been because it's not a Quad!

Feel sorry for bloke who won it. Even the frame is shite!
