Vectis 30th April - Here we go again..!

With the other upcoming sales, would be nicer if they could split the lots down a bit maybe into lots of three as I know selling individually would be a bit much but would give us poorer folks a better chance! :(

I agree

I'd have preferred to just take the R2 and C3PO from the 5 figs i won. I think 3 figures is a much better qty to group than 5's but I appreciate there is prob some tactical grouping here to get shut of some of the less popular figures at better prices than they would raise if listed on their own.

I bid on some action man items last night but got outbid before the auction had even started and decided with the 20% buyers fees that it wasnt really worth bidding any higher as those fees are a rip off

Managed to win 2 bids - 5317 & 5331

Biker Scout, Han Solo (Hoth), C-3PO, Gamorrean Guard, 8D8
Ree-Yees, Logray, C-3PO, Han Solo (Bespin), Princess Leia (Boushh)

I was especially interested in the Biker Scout, Princess Leia and Han figures but was tricky to find lots without duplication and half decent condition figures. I was looking at about 10 lots and narrowed it down to these 2 last night after much weighing up. It is a shame they can't do smaller lots but the practicalities of shifting this much stock make it difficult and as JimboUK1979 said it's an opportunity to get rid of cheaper figures.

There were loads of none SW items I liked the look of but thought I could probably buy the same thing on eBay for a lot less. Didn't bother in the end

how can we see end prices as the items i bid on only tell me my highest bid and i would like to know what they sold for

in the search bar click the star wars link and it gives you lists of realized prices. It doesn't if you go through the auction dates though which would be the obvious way to go.

Can't seem to find them.....

That was the last auction...
There was another box of 12 today, lot 5350. I can't find the completed listing for it though.

Yeah it kind of disappeared....I prebid in them but they've gone...were they pulled before auction?

Why would items command a more higher sale price at vectis than let's say ebay ? Wich has the bigger market coverage ? You would think you would get more serious money from ebay because the market is so vast ,I personely always feel I'm going to get a bargain at vectis because it's a auction house only 8 miles away from me and yet it never plays out that way ,I know the collecting community is massive I get that but if your bidding on the internet your only seeing 2 pictures and you would have to be seriously rich to blow large money on the strength of 2 great pictures ? Those x wings are going to end up costing nearly £3500 that's crazy money , were are the bargains ? Silly me , there is no bargains now the closer the film the smaller the window ,I'm just amazed how vectis attracts such big hitters in the buying community ? Would old boy Serious die hard collectors buy at theese prices or is it another kind of collector out there hoovering it all up ,at let's face it highly inflated prices ! Just a thought

I do agree these prices are mental
May be its time for a reality check. When was the last time a case of X-wings or Snowspeeders became available to buy on the open market.
After years of searching through ebay I have never Found anything like this(certainly not at a bargin price).
Vectis gets items that dont belong to collectors they are people who want to sell things but have no other way of selling due to lack of knowledge or apathy (vectis takes out all the hassle of selling for people who dont know where to place stuff or cannot be arsed)
Most of "Joe public" dont know how to value this sort of stuff and have no idea about Forums and private sales.
In short if you had a load of toys and have no interest or knowledge of collecting what do you do with them ? you take them somewhere that has had loads of publicity about crazy prices for toys.
I am pretty sure this is what has happened with the beeches toy shop stuff and the Palitoy rep stuff.
The crazy price vectis machine is just gonna keep rolling.

Then what would be the value of a graded rotj x wing afa80-85 ? I'm guessing the buyer will just keep all 6 in the box ! They may never leave the box ?

That's the big question.
Who knows if it's a collector , investor or a dealer who has bought to flip ( only time will tell).
They may not get graded or sold.
As for value individually in today's market pretty high and I suppose if they were bought to sell they are gonna have to be or some one will have wasted time and money.

I can't see them selling beyond £600 a piece , it seems a lot of dough spent just to flip as I do believe the profit will be small ,I do reckon it was purchased by a collector who will just keep them all in the box and if it was me ,use it as a big door stop !!!! O
