Vectis - 15th April (someone there ?)

Gary, fair points. There are lots and lots (hundreds) of Kenner 12 backs out there and they retain their value don't they. I was going to start a thread on pops and rarity as it's difficult to work out and you only get a partial pop report from the AFA given there's a lot of ungraded / UKG out there. I wonder what the actual pops are for the different series. Really interesting.

I'm wondering though if it is multiples on sale at one time at auction at a one off event if there would be that many bidders as it's quite a niche market so might be a great chance to get a cheap one. I will watch with interest.

BTW Gary as an expert where would you see the Palitoy 12 prices at the moment for the others? I got the ST for £808 and had no idea what I should have paid, I feel like it's a lot of money but was a dream purchase, was that a fair price. Are Ben and Chewie still the rarest? Where would they be now price wise. How many do you reckon still exist in the World?

Do we know if Ben and Chewie are appearing in May? Are there 30 backs and tris as well?

Really excited now.

At £800, I really don't think you've overpaid judging by todays prices.

There are clearly a lot of people who are prepared to pay a lot on these Palitoy 12 backs (Look at the vader and Jawa for example). I would have placed the stormtrooper above the Jawa in terms of value so I think you did fine.

Prices at the moment are constantly hitting new records/fluctuating enormously so it is really hard to say what a good price is on anything.

Prices seemed more stable 10 years ago. Though in reality there may have been just as many fluctuations, but just at a lower price scale.

I am still in shock over the vader and jawa

Thanks Gary that's good to hear. I put prebids on a few and had a budget and was surprised with the ST to win, although have no idea on rarity or prices.

We're fast approaching the point where it will be impossible to pick up any decent Palitoy 12 back for less than £1000. Even Sandpeople and Threepio. A glut of 12 backs hitting the market at the same time should lower prices, but I've a horrible feeling they won't because demand is at an all time high.

The Stormtrooper for £800 is about on the mark I think. 2 or 3 have sold on ebay recently for £700/£750 and they were pretty mint as well, so yours isn't a million miles off.

I think the Jawa has become more desirable than the Stormtrooper at the moment simply because there have been less for sale recently. I can't really remember a nice one selling for a good while so there's probably more demand and therefore a higher price. Hard to say which one's really more rare out of the two.

I'm thinking that if, say 3 or 4 of every 12 back came up for sale then demand might loosen a little bit on the more desirable stuff - Luke, Leia, Vader, Chewie but not a lot because many people still need them to complete collections.

It's probably the common/less rare one's that will suffer most on price because people already have them. I certainly can't see it being a bad time to buy them, some must go cheaper than you'd expect.

Even when you look back at recent ebay/Vectis sales, they haven't had loads of the rarer Palitoys, just more of the common one's, so demand should still be there for anything 'desirable'. When was the last public sale of a Chewie, or Ben, or Luke?

Wow. Boxes of Luke and Leia 12 backs!! That's massive. That's unbelievable. Probably made an error getting the Stormtrooper then this could be the once in a lifetime to get the likes of Luke and Leia for the average man at a decent price. Wow, that's a bigger find than Carter digging up Tut. I'm stunned.

I think he meant Luke and Leia 12", not 12 backs :)

Massive THANK YOU to Rich for picking up and posting my Steve Austin which arrived today.

I really appreciate it mate and know you put yourself out there just to help the community. You sir, are a legend

Thank you

Received my winning lot today. It was one of the display stands and some books. Absolutely fantastically packaged by Vectis. I've won some action figure lots from yesterday's auction so I hope they'll be as well packaged. I spoke to their packaging dept and they said that they'd be sent in plastic clamshells so we'll see.

I've received all my lots now. Huge thanks to rich for sorting it out for me

Few more to post pics at some point this weekend 8)
