Upcoming Vectis auction/toy shop find

Looking forward to see the other auctions that will be coming up, some nice bit's for the April 15th one.

Just pissed off that I probably will not be able to afford anything because of the stupid over inflated price's these hyped up Vectis auctions command..

I would of liked to see pic's of the find, would have been like Aladdin's cave for sure..

Who is this Mark Jackson then..? Is he a member on here or anyone know him..

On the website it say's the toy shop find will be auctioned on 30th April so is the one on the 15th the toy rep or just a private collection.??

Private collection I think.

The Vectis puplicity is a bit double edged - I bet loads of forgotten collections are coming out of the woodwork (lets be honest, Palitoy SW figures aren't rare and in the mid 1990s cost £50 or so each, so there could be quite a few forgotten collections). So more supply, but then Vectis seem to get much higher prices than other sellers.

I had the pleasure of seeing some 'behind the scenes' pics of the Beeches find at the weekend.

It is no wonder that there are condition issues with most of the items, the shop was in a terrible way inside with water leaking through the roof and onto product

I think that's a bit of a worry for the sealed box of Speeder Bikes and the like. I'm sure water damage would be seen on the box, but I'd have thought mould is a possibility on the inside if it's been in a damp part of the shop. Perhaps that would show on the outside as well? We need a mould expert!!

A question about the upcoming auction on the 15th. Is it their intention to sell all 800+ lots on the day? sorry to sound noobish but I've never been to an auction never mind bid at one but I see at least 15 lots I want to bid on but they're at the later stages and I just want to make sure it's that day!...

In a word "Yes"

Good luck but don't get too carried away bidding and remember you pay hammer price plus 24%.

Ah thanks again for the info, didn't think the fees would be as much as 24% good to know and no worries on getting carried away, I know my limits and I expect the lots I'm looking at too go for considerably more than the estimates but I'll watch the first few hundred pass and get an idea and it'll give me some experience for the other upcoming auctions! ;)

you think vectis would be aware of TOYTONI by now , i just registered on the site and was searching the new and old auctions and saw a few toytoni mocs

If you zoom in on the photo of that squid head it looks like a reseal. The paper underneath the bubble on the right hand side looks torn (Lot 19)

Careful with vectis descriptions. You need to look very closely at the photos as they seem to think everything is good condition. They will send you extra photos sometimes if you ask. I have had varying degrees of success when asking them to take extra photos.

I would have to agree that extra photos should be a must. Front, back, both sides, top and bottom. Spending an extra couple of minutes doing that would put buyers' minds at ease, and they would get higher prices because the buyer knows exactly what they are getting. Everyone has their own idea of excellent condition, so you highlight the item with pictures and let that do the talking instead. I understand there is a lot to get through, but these opportunities don't come along often, so why not take a little extra time with each listings?

I'll be honest - and this might be a bit controversial - but I have a feeling that Vectis are deliberately vague with their pictures - they will tell you it is a time constraint - but hell if I can take 8 pictures of each loose figure I list on eBay then they should be able to do it with these
