Ugh...unfortunately I was right :(

I agree. I'd love a VCJ, but I wouldn't pay £2K for an AFA80 one, let-alone £3.5K for an AFA70!
If he'd asked, say, £1.5K for it ONO he may well have sold it, but his price was ridiculous. Even BT's wouldn't ask for anything like that. But then I suspect he only wanted to sell it if he got £3.5K for it, regardless of whether he had to bastardise it and have it U graded or not.

As a matter of interest, does anyone know his Ebay ID or how he buys all his stuff? I just wanna know so I don't sell the ****er anything!

I wouldn't even offer him a kick in the sack for it as it only vindicates what has done . Anyone think of a anti u grade campaign , hate the game AND the player ???

To me, the thing that is getting overlooked here, is the greed of AFA too. It's scandalous that they can operate like this. Any organisation with the term 'Authority' should be just that, and out there to protect the common good - not bastardise it. Just like Rulair, the AFA are driven by by money and whilst the customer gets what the customer wants, they are no longer an authority in my eyes.

Yeah the AFA are massively to blame for inventing, providing and maintaining this barbaric, destructive practice. It's utterly deplorable. They should be ashamed.
One day there will be no SW mocs left at all and it will be largely due to them. Not that they'll give a ****. They got their cash. They'll move on.

Yeah I do think the blokes nothing but a greedy retard and it's people like him who will end up destroying the hobby as we currently know it.
However on the subject of U grades I have to disagree with some of you. In the past I have sent quite a few figures to afa to be graded as U but none of them came from cards. They were all from baggies. It's just nice to think you have a figure that has NEVER been touched. But I have NEVER sent a carded (nor would I) figure for grading. Nomatter how much of a beater the card is it ALLWAYS looks better than a loose figure. Just the sheer amount of repro carding kits on eBay shows that.

Well, something to think about here would be that baggies are collectors items in their own right and that there are some very rare variants. For example a very rare heat sealed DT Luke baggie was destroyed recently for the U Grade. I'd link you to Shawns U grade FAQ where he mentioned it but his website seems to be down.

Never had any rare bagged figures u graded, just the really common ones like Ackbar, b-wing pilot etc.....
Totally agree with you on rare bagged figures.

I thought Tom said it wasn't a rare baggie afterall? And then most people nodded their heads and moved on with that one, after he said that. I can find the thread if you like :)
Also If I recall, didn't Shawn say he was also changing the info about that baggie in his FAQ?
Or am I talking about a different baggie?

Yeah you're probably right Josh. I didn't know the specifics, just that there was a rare DT Luke Baggie involved. Just shows you how the brain works digesting information. :)

My point still stands though.

I respect your opinion...but the factory workers touched them, so that theory doesn't really work unless your just saying they have not been played with.

This is the main problem about the Ugrading myth. A figure in it's baggie or on it's card has not been touched in 25-30 years or so, since it was made in the factory. A figure that is sent to AFA for Ugrading has been touched recently by the people at AFA and is now, in my and many other collectors opinion, a loose figure.

That's not Donut Crust...

You joke but who's to say what's on those grubby, greedy AFA hands when they fondle your once well preserved figure..?? If i worked there i would lick all figures being UGraded before i cased them...
Does the U stand for "U've been had"?
