U grade piss takes

To be honest Robbie - you are acting as the 'big man' here - why bother to come on here ?
This is a public forum, is it not? Aren't half of the posts here meaningless? Thought I would join in too.
To be fair, if you could Weasels posts then I would say 90% is more accurate

In all seriousness though, you have a totally different outlook on this topic that pretty much everyone else on this forum. There are people saying that you are a nice bloke but to be honest, the bulk of people that have read about UGrades are disgusted by what you do - and even those who defend you as a person find it hard to justify your practise of removing figures from cards.
Wrong. I have had many messages of support from collectors who really don't see it as such a big issue as some of you guys. You are all entitled to your opinion. Free country. However, it's always the very vocal minority who like to be heard.

Really - how many where from members on here ? And you say messages of support - i.e. for you as a person - not for what you do - no ?

Your wasting your time Iain. This guy is into archangels. Facts and rational are beyond him. Just ignore him, he's here to vent. Obviously very sad today.

Right O!

Bye for sure.

Can I block people on this forum?

As long as there is a market for U grades its gonna happen, the blame lies at the person that pays it.

With all due respect Andy, I think you are wrong. If people like Robbie didn't create a market for these items but putting so many up for sale then there would be little demand. New collectors wouldn't have a clue about the existence of UGrades if they weren't so heavily sold and marketed on Ebay as something special.

They are not special; they are the result of willful destruction of collectables

How is that a businesspersons fault, its purely the idiot who masturbates over the U letter and decides to pay £300 for a figure thats really worth £5.
if you take a step back and think of the insane profit and it doesnt bother you about toys as they are just platic then you cant blame them.
Put it this way if the prices dropped and people were only willing to pay say £20 do you think he would do it just because its a habit?
it all started with buyers paying more and more for a figure taken off a card until it went through the roof.

Your right, from a purely business sense - but then is that really how we should all live our lives - who gives a **** about what anyone else thinks as long as I make money ?

Robbie has admitted himself that he doesn't make large amount of money from this - with the cost of the grading etc. - for me it is just a pointless exercise that will ruin this hobby for future generations

People may think we are anti ugrading for loads of reasons, but myself and Iain have enough MOCs between us to be happy forever. Iain is right. It's the raping of the hobbie for future generations that's unsettling.

From a business point of view lets burn all the oil and empty the seas of fish for today's profit. That's not right.

No i agree, as i was the one started this thread but my frustration is with a person who gets excited about a u90 dsd and pays £450 for it....i mean come on, they are to blame because if a u90 was woth £35 even, you just could not make money from that.
When you send stuff to afa in bulk you make big money, even if say 3 or 4 come back as u90/u95 the jizzers come out.

Money is money though, and for example say you got hold of a mundane zeroid from terrahawks, checked ebay and a u90 went for £500, if you sell it as it is you might get £20......there would be a twinge in you that would consider it because its a line you have no care for (especially in these tight times)

i think the u fad is defo going anyway and once its gone it will be back to the usual...the fluctuating of a VC jawa, i remember buying two minty ones for £325 lol

Fair point, and it is something I will never understand - why a figure given a '90' or '95' grade by some chap employed by AFA makes it 10 times better than seeing that figure on its original card will always be beyond me

Yeah man. 8)

I'm going to have to leave this thread now as I know it's Friday, there's beer and I'll get banned. Don't want to get banned again just incase they announce something crazy like a new Star Wars trilogy. Doh! :p

Both buyer, seller (and the company providing the service) are all equally to blame. You don't have one without the other on all counts. It's a chicken and the egg scenario and the thing that pisses me off most is actually the sellers who claim "it's not my fault... people want to buy them". What a complete load of utter bull-****.

There are many people who realise that these carded figures were produced in their droves. Any u grading that has been done to date has done nothing to affect things on the whole. You guys are over-reacting..

Pretty much sums up why we will never agree - because I think that is utter bollocks

Pretty much sums up what I already thought. You haven't a clue.
