U grade piss takes

what annoys me is the fact people will happily remove a figure from a perfectly good card just to get the U-grade and its things like this that is pushing the prices up imo.

just pity the fool who pays it lol!!

is it just me or is the U grade fad dying slightly? people now realising that an AFA 90 is just as good at a 10th of the price

Ive never been a fan of AFA graded figures.

Number 1: there way too expensive. Im sory but Im not really willing to pay through the nose because some cheesy Dorito'd fingered guy in America says that its worthyof a certain grade. Surely most people are able to judge for themselves with regards to condition.

Number 2: Whats with putting them in an archival perspex case forever. There toys. I like to occasionally look properly at the items I buy. Not through a window. Theres something about holding a carded figure that you just dont get when your holding perspex.

Number 3: There also seems to be inconsistencies in grading. And as for the poor people who have figures returned in cases battered up, rattling around, upside down, wrong way round etc. I feel sorry for them.

The only time I would consider AFA is if I was buying something I didnt know alot about; which lets face it, is never the best idea.

Sorry! Rant over!! :D

AFA is one of those things that divides the community.

I can see and understand your arguments, but unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who class ANYTHING they sell as "C9"". AFA are blood suckers but at least you know (roughly) what condition an item they have graded will be in, it removes the nasty surprises, to a degree.

I'm not looking to start an AFA good/bad debate, just saying unfortunately they exist in part because of unscrupulous collectors out there.

Yeah I take your point. I have had one or two bad experiences wih supposed c 9's.

No personal digs at anyone at AFA. For some reason the AFA conjures up images of Al from Al's Toy Barn in Toy Story 2!!
