Trying to remember a children's book I used to have

This has been annoying me for days! I had a book in the 80s about a monster from space. I can't really remember the story, but I do remember that when he eventually came to Earth, he was only a few cm tall so wasn't scary at all. It was a short illustrated book, and I also remember that one of the illustrations had a boxed X-Wing in it (hence asking here.)

Any ideas? I've tried googling but no joy.

Can I crash this thread with my own question? Same **** - kids book but the one I remember was about two dinosaurs, very colourful cartoony book, think they were fighting most of the way through it and then became friends..that's all I've got. I must have read that book 1000 times (or just looked at the pictures )
