Lovely examples of both boxes and the speeders, Lars! And nice to see the leaflets present too :)

Thanks for sharing.

I've never done a side by side comparison, but yes, they appear to be basically the same size, shape and cut-out. If there are any differences, they're pretty minor. The boxes themselves are identically sized, so it would make sense for the inners to match. Hope that helps.

Jeremy
Hey Jeremy, I haven't checked for the landspeeder, but chances are they are different nonetheless. Kenner usually uses a different kind of cardboard and has numbers on its inserts. So they should not be swapped out.

This is my favourite. In Germany these used to be sold shrink wrapped, without tape to seal them. This is a still closed example.

Thanks mate for sharing that beauty, I did not know it was packed like that in germany  I was thinking maybe there was a german landspeeder box, if I remember correct there are a german tie fighter box so I thought maybe there was also a german landspeeder box since both are from the same movie. Any idea who shrink wrapped it ? was it done in germany or did kenner do it ?

The Tie Fighter was also shrink wrapped, but it's a normal Kenner box. The only difference is the instructions, which are in German ('Tie jäger').

No idea where this was done, but as I said no tape was applied, so it would have to have been at a factory.

I am not 100% sure but I think I once saw a tie fighter box for sale with the name Tie jäger on the box, but maybe I remember wrong and it was the instruction  or maybe it was just a custom made box. But I remember it as original. It was years ago so I could remember wrong. I saw it for sale on ebay germany.

Great to know the Tie fighter was also shrink wrapped. Oh I forgot about the tape, yes then it must be from a factory (y)

Hi Emiel,

Thanks for this.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself sufficiently clearly (in which case, my apologies to all concerned), but in my defence, I was not suggesting that the inners were absolutely identical, but rather merely that the inner from one version would fit the other speeder and its box, if someone wanted to try that, because they are essentially the same size and shape as one another. Would it make one speeder accurate / complete if the inner from the other version was used? No, almost certainly not (as you say, often different card stock was used and other differences do exist), but would it contain the speeder as it should and stop it rattling around in the box? Yes. That's what I meant, and how I was interpreting the original question.

Again, apologies for any confusion caused.

Jeremy

For a relatively small vehicle, it does make a good display. The kenner and Palitoy versions both made it into my display room 😎

Nice, thanks for sharing your landspeeders with this beautiful boxes (y) I love how you display the vehicles and figures just like on the boxes

Here's the Tie Jäger, sadly not shrink wrapped anymore, but you can see in the photo it lacks the tape on the box.
