Today somebody in one of the groups "discovered" that trilogo Luke Stormtroopers sometimes come with blue/black blasters! Obviously nobody else has ever noticed that. Unfortunately Facebook only shows you what happened two hours ago, so it's like Groundhog day on there.

Some also have small bubbles and were distributed by Meccano as well Edd, perhaps you should read Joes website?...........that will unfortunately require you to navigate away from FB though

That is a fair point. Although you could have just gone to eBay, or here, and pick one up for a tenner :)

But that would require work and knowledge and wouldn't include putting up a poorly written WTB ad in the group.

In other news even Anakins are bucking the trend even on Facebook they are going for £14. I nearly made my first Facebook purchase but how many Anakins do you really need?
Although Trilogos now seem to be considered a £100 card? I would baulk at going over £50

Yeah, I had noticed that. Saw one go for £75 and the general concensus was that it was underpriced. I was gobsmacked and nearly posted that £75 was way too much. THAT SAID have a look at eBay. In fairness, you will be pushed to find one as good as the £75 for less than £130. I think in this case we're simply behind the market curve in thinking it's a £50 figure. I know I paid about that 14 or 15 months ago and you could have taken your pick for £50 then.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the majority of the daft behaviour that goes on in the hobby but it's easy to lose track of what happens in this insane market.

Must be, I got one AND a Trilogo Emperor shipped using the GSP from the states for a shade over £70 including the postage

Had a close look at the blaster I'd guess. You can tell through the bubble in the right light

"Mystery solved!"

I and many others think it's somewhere in the middle, a deliberate error. Luke is clearly supposed to come with the black one, because every Kenner one has a black blaster. There are far too many trilogos with blue/black for it to be an accident, so it's probably a calculated decision like Luke Farmboy with Bespin sabre which is also abundant.

I was told by JP Ragusa that I was wrong. That the blue/black blaster on trilogo card is only ever an error.

An error? They didn't get that anal about blasters!

"No Dorris, stop - you're putting that blaster from imperial stormtrooper with Luke stormtrooper FFS - its your last warning! In years time nerds will argue this on the internet (i dont know what that is either) so we have to be right. Ok Dorris?"

100% this in my opinion - I have had 7 or 8 of the pass through my hands and all had Blue/Black Blasters

That's the type of crap you have to put up with in FB. Typical troller being an ass!! :D

Absolutely, and getting ranted at by "experts" will not change my mind on this.

I'm still not having that Yak was meant to have a staff, though :D

I've known them to be around £12-£15 each so it's not too far off

There was a post on one of the groups the other day asking how people know what the value of vintage SW pieces. One of the first replies was a guy saying he doesn't worry about what the value is, if he sees something he wants listed at a price he can afford he'll pay it. Original poster replies saying they do the same thing, particularly if someone posts 'Great price'.

Says it all.

I would say yes, if a complete AT-AT is £100 or so and one missing the chin guns is £60-70 they must be

£18 for a Nikto staff  that's some Yak tax being applied there

I've dipped in and out of this thread since it started without commenting. However over the past few weeks some of the FB pages have hit an all time low and I feel like I need to get my thoughts out there.

The prime example for me is Echo. When I joined this page 2 years or so ago there were 200 odd members. it was fairly easy going and I sold a fair bit on there. As the group started the swell and the number of "experts" started to increase I had gotten heavily into Empire MOC's for which the pickings were slim on Echo, so I used the page less and less. In the time since the group has grown to over 8,500 members with many active members chasing a loose run at all costs.

I get the impression there are many collectors there who seem to solely use this page for their purchases, when if they knew their stuff they could pick up many of these item on ebay for less than the prices they are paying on there. Okay yes their is a risk or "repos" however the ebay money back guarantee is a safety net I wish I had 15 years ago when I started my loose collection. There has been 2 occasions this year alone when I've had to return vintage items, but for every bad experience I've had 20 good ones. With a little knowledge, patience and saved searches ignoring auctions with the word "vintage" in the title there are bargains to be found. Recently on Echo a new rule means you can't even reference the price an item sold for on ebay without the risk of a ban. For the life of me, I can't get my head around that one.

The thing that really took the cherry for me though was an arsehole who replied to a post linking to a SWCA article about the plans Kenner had for the next round of POTF toy had the line continued with loads of pictures of the prototypes. The arsehole's reply to the post was along the lines of "that's all fake, some guy made them and was trying to sell them but got found out". As more photos got posted in the thread of the items, the arsehole continued to call them out as fake.

I could not believe what I was reading, I knew this article and read it a while back. The chap who originally posted the link was really disappointed and believed what he was being told by the arsehole and I felt bad for him. He had taken the time to look up this stuff up and do some research. He was really excited about it and wanted to share what he found with the group. Then this ******* arsehole just starts talking **** to look like he knows stuff. I sent several responses calling this arsehole out, he clearly didn't know what the SWCA is or who Gus Lopez is. Couple of other forum member also backed me up. However that post is now lost in the deepest darkest depths of facebook like tears in the rain and anyone who read that thread early on and doesn't know better will now think that stuff is all fake because of the arsehole. All the fuss that gets made about "rules" on Echo but that **** is allowed to fly.

Every time I read "Echo spirit" or "Echo Prices" I just roll my eyes.

My biggest issue with facebook is that is only shows me what it wants me to see. There are threads which I don't see as they arent on my newsfeed. There are things I'd have bought which I don't see for 3 days as facebook decides I dont need to see it and need some adverts for 'london socks' instead.

Yes this happens to me all the time. I spend more time on Facebook for music than I do for Star Wars, and sometimes I completely miss new releases that other people have picked up because Facebook wants sellers to pay for ads and so only shows things to a small amount of people. The amount of times I miss something I would have bought on Facebook knowing that I was online when it was posted really infuriates me.

Incidentally I just listened to Adam's interview on the latest podcast and agreed with everything he said, I know this thread obviously puts a negative spin on FB groups but most of it is 100% true and if anybody ever has a gripe with this forum I am more than happy to listen and try and address it. I think FB groups have a responsibility to try and address some of the things raised in this thread (a good example a few posts above, £18 for a staff that comes free with a £6 figure!?)

You want to do what I did and get blocked for no reason. Best thing that ever happened to me on the Echo base page.

No idea why they blocked me, but they have. And I can't say I miss it at all.

Cheers
