When I was a kid I thought I had Leia, today I thought it was Bespin Leia, how wrong I have been

Today on Facebook I finally joined.

Only I'm under a false name, so I'm in need of 'friends' to legitimize me.

So please add me. I'm "Cape Town". 8)

I too joined FB not that long ago and saw your post today.
I am a memebrr kf many groups and never had any issues in joining.
I have bougt from there, had some successful bargains, but rarely comment as it's a place that feels strange/alien/false to me.
Anyway the point of this reply is that I have zero "friends" and have only once had someone question why this was.
This "friend" thing is a load of bollocks in my opion, why is it necessary to have "friends" to be legit, this is meaningless
I would be more than happy to add you as a friend, you would be the first, perhaps you be happy to do the same, but it's not a condition!

I don't think it is necessary in principle. Someone suggested it to me as a way to compensate for having a false name. :)

Added, anyway enjoy your new horizon!

Yeah, it was the name. Facebook doesn't have an option like the forum where you approve new members posts, and some groups/people have made many enemies so sock accounts are prevelant.

Facebook doesn't have the same functionality as a forum So edd can run traces on ips etc but on Facebook you can't.

It's ok for banter and a little discussion on the hot topic of the week but stuff gets instantly buried. There is a constant stream of new blood coming in asking the same questions, which is natural, but because of the way it's laid out there is no facility to search easily.

The worst bit about it all is the chest beating and dick swinging. Some groups are worst than others.

What are the good points? Well brutal honesty here, you will sell stuff fast and you will get the absolute top price on Facebook. It is now the most expensive and busiest marketplace in the world.

My first impressions are there are some great posts on there. And I ask myself why aren't these on a forum somewhere? They'll be lost forever soon. A real shame that.

Are there also no selling fees on facebook just like on this forum?

If facebook actually rivals ebay and amazon in terms of sales volume I can see them one day trying to cash in on that with a kind of system that lets facebook get a fee from all sales. Facebook can only grow for so long with advertising revenue and one day when that growth halts and reverses they could easily get greedy and start demanding selling fees.

I never plan on selling there because I hate facebook, just curious though. :?

It's the convenience. Facebook was easier to add photos to, share images and links and garnered a quick following. Anyone and their dog set up groups and built their monopolies. Only the better ones are worth boring with IMO - you'll quickly work out which ones are best for you.

With regards to friends I don't add anyone I either don't know personally or does not have similar friends. Too many bots, scammers and fake accounts.

Hot topic of the week, Toy Toni's. plastered all over every group. Welcome to 2013

Yup, and it seems like a totally new thing to a lot of members.. Oh how the uneducated come out the woodwork at times like this, and can't be bothered to do a bit of research.

That ones is Lian's isn't it, this is supposed to be the going rate.
Remember when these couldn't be given away!
I think it was Carl that said that the real bargins are on eBay now.

I read a thread on Facebook yesterday and someone was asking why VC Jawas were so rare. Someone answered it correctly, although they didn't point out the fact that they aren't rare. So the person who asked the question said thanks that helps also saying to the person who answered the question you really know your stuff! Then some other numpty pipes up saying he thought they were rare because Kenner ran out of cloth capes and VC were only introduced from 1985 onwards!

Then the person who asked the origional question posted a message saying, oh so I'm still not really sure why they are so rare.

I thought the guy who said that was taking the piss!

Perhaps he was, that would explain a lot.

I think it's got to the point where a lot of people are just posting sarcastically now.

The same or similar questions are being asked over and over again so people are fed up basically.

This YPS fad has ruined the Action Force world as the less scrupulous 'collectors' are rinsing out all the SA 80s. I hate to think how many weapon packs and other paired items have been opened for this.

This! Absolutely crazy. It's not just the black ones either.

Been back on Facebook for a few days, mainly to sell a few bits. I've actually sold way more on here than FB 8) Think it's a shame that SWFUK seems to be have been abandoned by a lot of sellers these days. I guess it's the market we're in these days - Facebook is usually quicker to move stuff due to the audience size and competativeness and you can charge more :(

Dunno why, but I'm always shocked at the loose prices whenever I go back on after a break. FX-7... £40!!!!
