Bought my first classic Space Lego set at the weekend, the journey begins! No one needs to get too worried though, I'm on a limit of about one set per month so it'll take a while to get anywhere :lol:

What do you guys do about damage to boxes and miscoloured bricks? is it ok to restore a box (which we'd frown upon for VSW) to keep it intact, and replace bricks that have yellowed? Not quite sure of the collecting etiquette yet ...

Anyway, it was very refreshing being pleased buying something that didn't cost very much, as that amount would get me nothing in the SW world.

Personally I don't feel as bad about repairing things on the lego/boxes

6953 Cosmic Laser Launcher, one of Futron sets. I quite like classic & Futron, not so much the Blacktron sets. I printed off a list of sets, 4 sides of A4! Going to take a while :lol:

Yeah I printed off a similar list. Just gone For the classic sets...Though do both versions of the monorail. And actually quite like some of the blacktron sets.

Classic on its own was around 80 sets!!

Horror of horrors, I've peroxided Lego bricks before. I have to say, it worked brilliantly. I'm not sure I buy into argument that peroxide damages the plastic although I wouldn't do it to my VSW stuff, just in case. Coloured bricks can be restored nicely (particularly the vintage blue which picks up that awful brown/green colouring) and the white becomes nice and fresh if you do it right. The trick is to under-do it rather than the opposite.

As for boxes, again, I don't see an issue with repairing them. I use a specialist type of PVA which works wonders on boxes when used sparingly. I also use it on VSW boxes when they're in low grade. It's as much a case of stablising what's there as restoring. I did it to dramatic effect with an ROTJ X-Wing box and I'm halfway through doing my Palitoy Death Star Box. I do it regularly on board game boxes and have done it to Lego boxes, too, and it really does transform them without any outward sign they've had work done on them.

I took my ucs slave one to bits when I moved. It was unsorted, all in two plastic tubs.

I built it in a day, including sorting all the parts. I used the Mrs music stand to hold the instruction manual.

Jesus? Really? I was cutting back the Lego business at the time but did want to buy a shed load of these and Ecto1 as it was obvious they were going to go wild, but £100 already? Nuts. I just have one of each. I want the Big Bang Theory set but justifying £50 on such a small set when I still need the SandCrawler and GBHQ is hard...

What do people think of the UCS Ewok Village? I'm stuck between buying that or the Sandcrawler (which is newer I think so I'll probably still have chance to buy it later). I like the SC more, but neither has any competition, unlike things like the MF or DS which keep getting re-released. Personally, I like the SC more, but don't want to end up paying double to get an EV later if I don't get one now.

I have both but only built the Village...which is pretty awesome to say the least.

Of the two I think I'd always go for the Sandcrawler, but that's also one of my favourite Vintage toys so a bit biased.

The Lego Sandcrawler was introduced on May 4th 2014, so it may (only may) be withdrawn on 4th May this year. I do somehow doubt it but you never know. Lego almost always allow their sets up to 2 years on the shelf, but things like the Death Star had a lot longer where as other sets get a shorter time. Was the UCS B-Wing really 2 years?

I don't think the B-Wing made 2 months let alone 2 years
In all seriousness I think it was Put on half price after 12 months and done away with. Always felt it was hard done by as the end product is a lovely looking ship.

The Ewok village isn't seen as an UCS so will be around for a bit, and I believe it is a good seller, it is a great looking set and a fun build, if you can display it with the Endor bunker set it looks great.

The Death Star is being upgraded this year so literally as the current one goes end of life the new one will spring up with an UCS tag, we know the Hoth Base out for May 4th is an UCS and there is an UCS Snowspeeder due at some point, so that is three new SW UCS in one year. I can't see the sandcrawler being pulled just yet, but with the Tie fighter and Slave 1 still on shelves as well, Lego won't want 6 UCS on the go at once.

Havent posted many photos of late as i have been working on putting shevles and building this up Lego wise, but the SW lego is coming along now, i have a smaller Super Heroes shelve and some other bits and bobs.

When Ecto 1 was released I couldn't get down to the local LEGO shop to buy one as I thought it would sell out quick..... They had loads of BTTF Deloreans too...but of course passed on that one. Some LEGO sets seem to be hitting high prices lately. The 2007 UCS Millennium Falcon is now over £4k !!!

I bought the original '7190' little one back in the day, and sold it just over a year later without figures for triple bubble...

They always said put your money into bricks & mortar..... seems like it should be just bricks now.... little ones !!
