The LEGO Corner

Still no news on the new modular, Gary, and I would have expected an announcement by now. If nothing is revealed on "Brick Friday" (last Friday of November) then maybe there won't be one. It's interesting they've chosen to re-release a seasonal set (Christmas Toy Shop) that was out some years ago, rather than release a new one. Hope the same isn't true for the modulars.

For anyone interested in collecting the modulars, this is an awesome way to kickstart your collection:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181890809502?_trksid=p11010.c100352.m3747&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150112095601%26meid%3D9c267ed6eeb84a7f99e965f32e1797e4%26pid%3D100352%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D171946899769

I have no connection with the seller or listing.

It's too much money for them at present, but if you could get him down to £1,000 or less then you've got a good deal on your hands.

That eBay auction highlights just how awesome these sets are 8)

I do hope there's a new modular. They are certainly popular enough to warrant continuing the run.

Are there any new Star Wars sets? I'm sure I heard there was a carbon freezing chamber and possibly another large set...hoth I think?

I'd heard rumour about the Hoth base. Meant to be on the same scale as the Ewok village which would be awesome. Meant to have an Ion cannon, shield generator, etc. Not heard about the Bespin one, but it would get my vote.

Good shout - that looks fabulous! Not seen them lined up like that before; my Dad has 3 or 4 of the modular sets but I don't think he has ever assembled them at the same time. I have 1 that I've not built so might have to borrow his too (which roughly translates as 'nick them')!

If he happens to have a Corner Café he doesn't want, let me know

Next years Star Wars sets are all roumors right now but it shouldn't be long before we hear details. The brickset database has a lot of set names and numbers but without descriptions it is still a guess. But of those guesses a few stand out.

An ultimate collectors A-Wing
A re-released ultimate collectors Snowspeeder
The both base, as mentioned Ewok village type thing, no know details
Hoth attack set
Carbon freeze chamber (apparently we get ugnoughts, boba fett and a Han in carbonate)
A host of battle packs and smaller sets and a second wave of force awakens sets

One interesting roumor is a ghostbusters headquarters ultimate set for Jan

Images of the new Ideas Dr Who sets came out today, still teasers but a nice looking tar dis and half a dozen figures.

A bucket load of super hero sets are meant to be heading our way, based on films and tv shows, most interesting is a 1960's Adam West batcave set.

Lost of images and news coming in the next month or so i think/hope

Those all do sound interesting.

I'd love a ghost busters head quarters....would go well with my modular sets!! 8)

Is it likely that anything new will be released before Christmas?

Yes
We know the Dr Who set will be out in Dec, full images are out now, nice looking set.
Traditionally a few sets are released in Nov ahead of Christmas and a fair few retailers release the Jan sets a few weeks early. Last year the Frozen castle set was meant to be a Jan 1 release but I think it was on sale from early Dec from many retailers. No one knows about the echo base set, that was originally set for an Oct release, so maybe in Nov, maybe not.

Those images are great, I think they are direct form Legos own server.
Some nice looking sets, the SW Rebels Kenan's speeder set looks good. A little disappointed by the carbon freeze set, was hoping for a Lando or Leia figure in there, but still a must have.

The big breaking news for today is they at the next Modular building will be a Bank and it is a corner building, £120 out on the 1st Jan, images are up on brickset, and it looks excellent, I am so happy I didn't go down that road, I would be broke and have even less space than I do already...

Very cool indeed. However, I do feel just a little bit disappointed it's not grander. Look at the Emporium/Grand Magasin. That was a corner building on an epic scale, these feels a little out of scale in comparison. The corner building are issued infrequently, a shame that they didn't go to town on it, no pun intended!

Saving my bucks for the GB HQ!

I do really like it

The only downside is that it doesn't look 3 stories, which I think would make it fit in with the other better

I don't know if these are cheap or not but it might be something you need:

May be stating the bleeding obvious here to you 'old school' Legoers (is that a word?)... Anyhoo, wanted a Star Wars advent calender for the little man and quite fancy throwing one in my collection as well so ordered 2 on the website. That'll be £49.98 please plus £3.95 for shipping (which is quite annoying given that shipping is free over £50) making a grand total of £53.93. But, by adding a random cheap pick-a-brick for the princely sum of 6p I now only had to pay £50.04 all in including free shipping. Just thought I'd mention it if anyone ever gets close to the £50 threshold.

Hi folks,

Got a couple of SW lego sets that are spares (both still sealed):

Rey Speeder: £16
T-16 Skyhopper: £20

Fire me a pm if interested.

Cheers :)

The good news is the Ghostbusters HQ is now confirmed as it looks like it will be a huge set at between 3,500-4,000 pieces. At that many it may well tie in with the modular sets but it just may be too big. I'd be surprised if they made that SNAFU as by making it the correct scale they'll appeal to modular fans who have no love of GB.

The bad news is that it will be prices at £269.99. Ouch. That said, I don't care, I'm having one!

Yeah I saw the info today.

Will that come with the car, or will we have to get the separately?

Seems a bit pointless having to get the 4 Ghostbusters twice just to get the car separately!

Some Ghostbusters firehouse pics here - looking good!
