Laura Dern WTF!!

Disney are too busy trying to push liberalism onto the masses by hijacking franchises like star wars to push propaganda.

I refuse to pay for anything Star Wars again.

R.I.P.

Everyone I know who has seen it, loves it

This /\/\/\

The only person who wasn't sure was my teenage nephew (he's 16 and a big SW fan). He loved lots of it, but wasn't sure about certain parts (like I was after the midnight viewing). He's going to see it again this week. Other than that, everyone else I know who's seen it REALLY enjoyed it. None of them are huge SW fans, but they all 'like' SW.

Just had my 2nd viewing, (4DX this time which was ace) and loved it even more than the first. Aside from Leia's space walk (which is ludicrous), I'm really struggling to see what all the negative drama is about.

I like R1 and TFA but I'm so glad they've tried to do something a bit different. For me personally it's a shot in the arm for an overarching story that was in danger of becoming repetitive, predictable and stale. It's my second favourite film in the whole saga and the scene with Luke at the end in front of the walkers is probably the best of the lot.

Epic.

Having watched this for a 2nd time , against my better judgement i hate it even more than the 1st viewing

I knew Disney would be bad for Star Wars but i didnt think they would have the audacity to **** around with our heroes .Turning Leia into Mary ******* Poppins is unforgivable . Carrie Fishers last ever movie and they do that to her .. Whoever dreamed that scene up needs to be fired out into the cold vacuum of space to see just how ******* stupid that scene looked

People keep saying its a new star wars for a new generation well why the **** did they have to bring the 3 main characters from the OT in just to make a ******* **** of them all

George Lucas has made a monumental ******* arse of his Great work in the 70's and 80's selling out to these horrible Disney bastards

Whilst I'm no fan of this film, ehhh did you actually watch the ******* prequels? CGI, CGI, CGI, CGI, CGI, CGI, CGI, more CGI, and a bit more CGI. Jar jar binks. Those two muppets who played Anakin (blocked their names out), trade disputes.....ooohhhh exciting! The most underwhelming turning of Anakin to the dark side. Space battles so "good" you couldn't tell what was going on or follow who was blowing up who. Metachlorians......

There is NOTHING good about the prequels. NOTHING. They are complete and utter abominations in every single possible way. Watch the footage of the reaction when Lucas et al watch the first one for the first time. Utter silence. And it aint silence cos they were dumb strunk by the brilliance of it all.

If Lucas can do that to his own creation, with a very large budget and all the good will in the world, then selling it to Disney (or ******* anyone) was the best thing he could have done. FFS I've seen pornos with better written dialogue and plot.

I don't like TLJ, the other 2 films were fine TFA was safe if unadventurous and R1 was quite good, but **** me TLJ it's so far ahead of the prequels that it's not even on the same planet.
I'd had doses of the clap that were better than the prequels and Lucas was 100% responsible for them.

The movie is not for everyone, I suppose. That's fine, I get it. Everyone has an opinion. This is mine: I love it.
I plan on seeing it at least once a week until it's gone from theaters.
Are you for real? I mean: Leia fetish is one thing, but do you have shares funded by Disney?

That's an hysterical admission.

You do realise it's a contemporary myth based on foundations of goodies vs baddies. You know- what is Star Wars? It's the battle between LIBERTY and Tyranny.

Unless you only watch the scenes with the dark side on the screen. But we know what the inspiration was them :?

Star Wars has been pushing liberal values since it's inception. What you guys watching?

It's completely mind-numbing that some people on here are putting anything SW better than the prequels (including the Holiday Special).. They're all appallingly bad. TPM and AOTC have no redeemeing features. ROTS only redeeming feature is that it's the end of the PT.

After watching it 3 times , I think TLJ has been given some unfair criticism. Don't get me wrong I don't think the film is Brilliant from Start to End, But the Showdown Scene With Luke and Kylo Ren is Awesome IMO. Love it when Luke Slides/Moves and the Snow/Ice Doesn't turn Red.

One thing I have to applaud… this set. So good to have the production of these films back at Elstree, building major sets, utilising practical costumes and FX for these new SW flicks. This particular set has a real Flash Gordon emperor Ming vibe. Love it! (Didn't Jez and some of the lads from here have a nose around Elstree during filming?)

I've seen TLJ for the first time today, and have managed to get through the first 4 or so pages of this thread. I look forward to reading the remainder over the next few days!

I came to TLJ completely fresh; I managed to avoid spoilers and didn't even see any of the trailers. It was a very different film to what I'd expected, and I must say I enjoyed it all the more for that (well, apart from Leia Poppins). I love the fact that Rey (probably) isn't anyone special - that'd be too obvious; I love Kylo Ren killing Snoke and taking his place; I love that we've returned to a character-driven story with characters I actually care about. And I loved that it felt like a completely new Star Wars film that wasn't over-relying on its own mythos (Hi there TFA) and was - in some cases literally- burning that history to the ground. If Star Wars is going to continue it needs to do so with new characters and new stories.

I understand that some of the things TLJ has done make it a divisive film; killing Luke, the number of plot holes of varying sizes, some of the humour, that bloody CGI Yoda, and did I mention Leia Poppins? I respect that everyone's entitled to their opinion of what makes good and bad Star Wars, but some of the over-reactions on here are hilarious.

This felt, to me, to be the most original film since ESB; I'm not necessarily saying the best, but certainly the most original, and I honestly believe that the current generation of kids will look upon this as their 'Empire'.

Just watch... I'll probably see it again in a couple of weeks and hate it!!

That's an empty 'Yorkshire tea' teabags box design :D

I love this scene as well- especially those weird ring wraith dudes with glowing purple eyes 8)

Peeky- yoda was a puppet again... exact replica of the old one apparently.

Come on the glowing stuff around Yoda which is minimised in certain scenes and basically discarded so Yoda doesn't even look like a force ghost is not CGI? It's boarder line disrespectful in my eyes. You can't ignore that CGI when the prequels we're ripped for the same mistakes.

I stand corrected on Yoda. Was it really meant to be an exact replica of the original though?

So the blue glowing stuff around Yoda is not CGI? I know it's a puppet which I don't have a problem with it's the fact he doesn't look like a force ghost which annoyed me. Probably going for another view this week so it doesn't bother me that much.

I'd made a comment that Yoda himself was CG. Cazza pointed out it was a puppet. Unless Disney have some serious **** going on then I imagine the glowing stuff was CG.

Perhaps the ability to project itself as a real apparition was foreshadowing for what Luke was going to do at the end of the film..............?

....One last thing is reading through the comments there's a lot of hate/negativity out there for DJ but who's to say that's the last we'll see of him. I actually thought he was an interesting character and am hoping to see him again in the next one (it might happen!).

Ian

Absolutely. Great character. Like a dark Han Solo. He didn't see good vs. evil or light vs. dark he simply saw opportunity and profit.

There were a handful of thought provoking points in the film but the one I enjoyed the most was the part with the holographic display table demonstrating who owned the ship they'd just stolen. Oooooh, bad guy: an arms dealer to the First Order. What a bastard. Oh, and the Resistance, too. The realisation the universe was not filled simply with First Order, Resistance or (remains of) the Republic, but with people who carried on their lives regardless of who was in control and who actually had an interest in these idealists carrying on fighting and dying. Without their sacrifice for their respective causes there'd be no market for more TIE fighters and X-Wings. Brilliant.
Absolutely spot on.

Watched I again on my phone and It was marginally better second time round. I just closed my eyes for the Superleia part.
