It's not fair and it annoys the **** out of me (and a lot of professional tennis players so i hear).
Women fought for ages, outraged that they weren't getting paid as much as men so the prize money, a few years back, was made the same as the mens. BUT. That's now the same amount of money for doing a LOT less work. Women tennis players, in fact, get paid much more than men now. How's that for equality? "but tennis isn't really work" you might argue, now so. By playing those extra sets and playing, at times, 6-7 hour matches the men put sever strain on their bodies and are at far greater risk of injury which could in fact lead to them leaving a tournament early costing them 10s of thousands of £s in prize money.
"but men are stronger and fitter" i've heard people argue. Buuuuull-shiiiiiit. Have you seen those "women" christ! I certainly wouldn't fancy myself in a punch up with one of them. These women are reared like prized race-horses. They train god knows how many hours a day 7 days a week yet their tennis matches tend to last about 45 minutes to an hour.
The whole thing is absurd. This is not a sexist rant either, in fact it's nothing to do with sex at all. Women deserve as much money as men so long as they do the same amount of work. There is no good reason women don't play 5 sets. Altho i get the feeling if it was voted for most of the women would vote against it being changed. Why on earth would you want to nearly triple your work load for no more money?? Now that would be just silly.
