Hi guys, just got back this evening to find a small parcel in a plastic bag with a note from the post office saying it had been withheld by a member of staff, opened it up and inside what should I find a Sheffield peace medal I ordered off E-bay back in November 2011! Its only been missing 18 months ;)

That's exactly what I thought Pete I didn't put a claim in via pay pal as I hadn't requested recorded delivery really glad I didn't force it now as I would feel terrible today after its finally arrived ;) I'm over the moon, and the suns out up north win win or what ;) I'm off to put a couple of quid on the lotto!

Thanks Liam, I love Sheffield peace medals they are not expensive things but when I see them I try to pick then up so I am really pleased this 95 year old piece is in my safe hands, here he is chilling out with his brethren!

Thanks Guys, i am still in disbelief over this one, an amazing chain of events from Royal mail and you do sometimes wonder where these things end up.
@ Spoons Peace medals were given out to school children and available for sale to the public to commemrate the end of WW1, Most town's have a version and they are all fairly similar Greek godess Nike depicting "Victory" to the front and the reverse has the towns coat of arms.

Thanks Jambob - I'm in Sheffield too so I'll look out for them

Will do James - I work in Heeley near the antique shops on Broadfield Road so I'll keep my eyes peeled. There is a military shop in the Heeley Emporium too - but its mostly SS memorabilia

I originally started out in German military items when that place was on Abbeydale Road the former owner died and they ended up moving to Helley emporium, They do occasionally turn up the odd bit of WW1 British but its few and far between now. Sadly most of my german items are now long gone but i do still have a few nice pieces although no SS!

Thanks Spoons, The Axis forcess during WW2 have always been an interest of mine, But the price the abundance of fakes crooks and the typically negative view you encounter when people find you collect WW2 items to some degree dulled my interest.

Have a look at this auction.
I know it might be short notice but there is some nice German WWII pieces going through.
Mainly from about lots 250 onwards.
Lot 317 is a particular nice piece!

On a different note I'm liking lot 219. Looks like a Tuscan Raider rifle!

Hi Cracatilla many thanks for the link some interesting pieces in there and your right 219 looks exactly like a gaderffii stick, the star lot has to be 406 the Juncker flak badge with a busted catch and the iron cross spangen (given to someone who won the iron cross second class in both ww1 and ww2) if that goes for anywhere near the asking price and that spange is Right its a steal.
Quite a lot of interesting ww1 Listings as well but they are all really badly listed the MM groups 466 and 467 are exceedingly nice.
