Got back at lunch time having seen it a second time. The good news is despite knowing exactly what was coming I enjoyed it just as much.
Couple of bugbears which I hope some can help with. Probably come up with more as I think about them:
1) What is (was) the Republic doing about the First Order and why not do something directly rather than "support" the Resistance? Bureaucracy in the Senate again?
2) Where was the lines "Who are you?" and the response "I'm no one" in the film that was in the trailer? I'm sure there were a couple of instances like this but will have to rewatch the trailer to be sure? The voice sounded a little like the CGI character that had Luke's lightsabre, but not quite. She would fit as the one asking the question, though. Perhaps an early edit that never made it to the final cut?
Ian_C, with respect, I can't possibly value anyone's criticism of this film if they've not seen it. It's like rubbishing the taste of oysters without ever having tried one. I hate seafood. I have no wish to ever try an oyster, however I am in absolutely no position at all to slag them off despite the plethora of unpleasant descriptions from people who don't like them. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but until you've watched this please excuse me if I discount it. You've made your decision in respect of lining Disney's pockets and I respect your choice in that, but not of the film. And yes, I too have judged films before I've seen them and written them off a "chick flick" and the like. I too choose not to go and see them, but I don't take to arguing against them or offering opinion on them; I simply don't watch them.
