Star Wars Top Trumps Argument!

My Mrs was playing Top Trumps with the kids the other night and our 8 year old had a dispute with her over the 'Jedi Powers' - Obi One vs Luke.

Obi One had 80. Luke had 90.

He says it should be the other way round ..and then proceeded to end the game saying the manufacturers had got it wrong :lol:

I think he has a point. Assuming the game is dealing with the characters up to the end of Jedi and including the prequels it is debatable that OB1 is the stronger Jedi. I said I would ask 'the Star Wars people'. lol

Which is it?

The kids has a point. Tho it's a tricky one and can be argued different ways.

Firstly, What stage of their existence is it?

Is seems, At the beginning A New Hope Obi Wan is no longer the powerful Jedi he once was. After all, it's an art that requires constant practice and devotion to maintain a high standard. However, Luke is not a Jedi at all. So Obi wins.

By ESB Obi, in his human form, is dead. Is he a Jedi anymore? One could argue not. Luke is a novice Jedi at this point. You could argue Luke wins.

By ROTJ Luke is a powerful and skilled Jedi. On the level Obi Wan was at his age? Possibly. Better? Hard to say. So you could either say they are about even there or, as Obi Wan is dead Luke wins and even if Obi Wan was alive Luke would arguably be the powerful of the 2.

So if you are going by the original trilogy i'd say Luke does edge it as a more powerful Jedi pretty much from ESB on whether you could Obi Wan as still a Jedi or not.

Bu if you bring the prequels into it then it's hard to say. Obi Wan's top notch job at turning a promising Jedi into one of the most evil Sith forces in the galaxy who practically brings and end to the existence of Jedis almost for good doesn't really go in his favour.

From what is seen in the films Obi is stronger, better trained and more experienced with the Force.

Luke only beats an ageing Vader through passion and anger, Obi Wan beats a young Vader even though he doesn't really want to hurt him.

Once you get into the EU Lukes power is properly described an exampled.

I still edge with Obi Wan though. The chosen one who brings balance to the Force isn't necessarily its strongest user.

Had a look. The photos are of Luke and Ben from ANH. However, the game (released in 2004) states on the front 'EPISODES IV - VI'. So I guess we're looking at Luke up to Jedi. Hmm...

I have a feeling that Luke may be stronger with the Force but that Ben is a 'better' Jedi. The question is though, who scores higher in Top Trumps? :?

It's a good point by Pete. OB1 was fooled the whole time by Palpatine and really should have gone easy on Anakin at times. Sometimes i'm watching Clone Wars and despairing at how the Jedi don't sense what's going on :roll:

I'm currently erring on the side of Luke for the score of 90

Yeah your lad's got it right. I think you have to take it as Ben at his strongest, prob in ROTS in his 30's? Luke at his strongest in ROTJ prob about the same age, Ben would kick his arse. Ben is more powerful, been training as a Jedi since he was a small child, Luke since his late teens. Ben let Vader kill him, he didn't lose the fight and he beat Darth Maul and Anakin.

Darth is like the bully of the galaxy. He can't win without his minions. I kind of like how he force chokes his cheeky ****ing useless twat employees though. Now that's bad ass :lol:
