My Daughter is leaving for London tonight - school trip down to Wimbledon (lucky bugger)
They are getting a couple of hours to shop tomorrow in the Regent and Oxford Street area. So are there any nice sci fic shops, comic stores that sell Star Wars merchandise vintage or modern in that area that are worth a look. We've had a quick google but not coming up with anything.

Be great if she comes back with a bag full of vintage toys rather than a £50 Wimbledon towel :D

Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

There's a forbidden planet near Holborn which is cool. Quite a big store. At Camden Market (in the indoor bit at the back) is a vintage seller but his prices are a tad high. Sells load of vintage not just SW.

Don't bother with that Camden one it's proper **** there's a vid in here somwhere that shows just how bad it is.....

Saddly you will struggle for a SW vintange shop in London.
There is a place called Jedi-Robe - www.jedi-robe.com in Middlesex, lots of SW stuff can't say if they have vintage or not, other than that i don't know of any.

As far as I'm aware they dont have any vintage. I've been in there a few times. On the whole its all modern but again, for modern stuff their prices are a tad high. Didnt ask if they had any vintage out the back!!

Spot on Chris, we went there a while ago on a shopping spree for Jr Jr's birthday, it was a bit of a let down really. Well stocked but really small and overpriced and no Vintage.

Mumbos avatar is of his kids in the Jedi Robes.

As for Vintage, we found a shop in London called the Cinema Store (WC2H 9NY) that had a bit of vintage, all over priced again though. This is the problem with buying vintage in shops, especially in London.
We stumbled across it while searching for all the Olympic mascots last summer. Its full of great stuff even without the VSW.

This is probably a bit late in the day to help you though DB

Yeah
The Cinema store is fine for movie stuff, most of their toys are very highly priced but their studio posters are quite good. You have Orbital comics around the corner from them (just off St Martin's lane towards Liecester Sq) but again not really any vintage SW, a few modern bits (some mine that i sell through them) tones of Transformers stuff, which is their stock and trade and as the name suggestions comics, lots and lots of comics. Those two places and forbidden planet are all within a few mins walk of each other as well so worth looking at but i wouldn't count on getting SW vintage - Plenty of other cool stuff though.

I was surprised how many loosies they had at the Cinema store, can't believe I didn't take a pic or two. From memory I would say about 40-50 loose figures, starting at around £20 and a few vehicles. They where all on one shelf in a glass cabinet.

Not that I wanted to buy any of them at the prices they had. we ended up with ESB coasters

Cheers for all the replies - I'm been sending on the details (and asking for any purchase updates) so will hear how she got on tonight.
Cinema store sounds great even just for a look around

Thanks again
