STAR WARS: REBELS NEW TV SHOW

Great news on the release date, I am a bit unsure about it but it is something new from the Star Wars universe so it's hard to resist.

The only problem I have is that my eldest son still hasn't seen any of the films yet due to his age and although he's seen the Clone Wars series I'm worried that with this one it'll spoil some of the surprises to come when he does watch ep. 4 and onwards. I don't think it's worth the risk at this stage and I'll probably wait until after May 4th next year which is when I plan on showing him A New Hope

Now I've just got to hope that some other child doesn't spoil it all for him like some kid did to me before I got to see Empire

Where have you heard that Grant? Had a look on both the Disney and Disney XD websites. No mention of a release date yet

Ah yes. Thats for those who pay a fee (i think) to watch Disney programs online via the "DisneyWatch" service before they hit the tv screen.

Very similar to Sky when they advertise a new show and say it Premiers on Saturday for example but is able to watch from now on Demand :)

Also the service is only avaliable to the US! :(

After all this time.......

Finally watching Star Wars Rebels.

Hope its good, the first of new Star Wars.

This is great. Lots of fun. Fast- lots happens. Its fast like OT.

I wish it didn't end.

BEST BIT:

Ezra: Can you let me in on the secret?

Kanan: Kid, I about to let everyone here in on the secret.

Yeah- im in- I would like some more Rebels please. Keep it coming.....

Can't be bothered to waid through the thread to see if this has been posted earlier, probably has but just in case a reminder that the first hour long episode is on Disney XD in the UK (channel 607 on sky) at 6pm this Friday.

For those of you into podcasts, Rebel Force Radio have a new show "Rebels Declassified" which will be a weekly roundtable discussion reviewing each episode as it airs. Hosts Jimmy Mac and Jason Swank are joined by the likes of Paul Bateman and Fanboys director Kyle Newman each week. They did a similar show for Clone Wars.

They released a short show this morning which featured a recording of the premiere press conference with Dave Filoni and cast members. Dave talks about GL having no involvement and about George's reaction when they showed him some episodes.

The first show proper will be out next Monday post the first episode airing.

Watched the first episode last night. Overal enjoyed it. A much better start than clone Wars had and Clone Wars became my fav TV show for ages.

The good...
Very OT feel. Liked the vintage toy Tie Fighters. Characters were strong and felt connected to them very quickly.
The bad...
I mean, I thought the Stormtroopers aim was bad enough in the OT. That was silly. Story was a little weak. The kid (who name escapes) just goes from nearly getting trapped to nearly getting trapped to nearly getting trapped again. Got a bit boring.
The ugly...
Textures, especially on the Wookies, looked a bit like Lego!

Im giving Episode 1 a solid 7.5/10. :)

We (me and Leo) really loved it!
When viewed on a proper home big screen TV as opposed to a ripped uploaded version on a laptop it was stunning. Agreed the Wookies looked like a bit of an afterthought but it was visually very good indeed.
I loved the nods to the OT and The Black Hole. The Star Wars music always gets to me, the use of it in this and the timing was spot on.
The characters were well constructed and prepared the series nicely.
After CE2 I was full to the brim with optimism for, Disney, Dave Filoni and especially Kathleen Kennedy. After watching a few Rebels trailers I thought "Oh crap", after watching this my faith and hope has been restored. Lots of references to the OT and especially ANH, no mention whatsoever of the prequels or mediclorians.
Thanks Disney.

Yeah. Sat down with the little ones and watched this. Really enjoyed it, good story and good pace to it. The characters are well rounded and even in an hour slot enough of their personalities come out to make you care.
Some great nods that tie this to the continuity of the Star Wars universe, overall a cracking start and I am itching to get into the serise proper.
