Ok so, I'm a proud Bi-spacial. I love both Star Wars and Trek (more wars though).

Are there any more who enjoy both franchises?

I've just finished a Next Gen marathon which I absolutely loved, just got through 8 of the movies and about to start on Deep Space 9 next.

Also love the new series Discovery.

Yep, TNG is on my all time favourite shows list. Only ever watched bits of Voyager, Enterprise and DS9 but do enjoy them. I'm yet to watch Discovery and am very much looking forward to the new Picard show.

I'm similar, enjoyed watching Star Trek as a kid but nothing like Star Wars. Problem is for me it's just a poor mans Star Wars and I'm more fascinated by the living and travelling through Space more than anything, when it comes to Star Trek.

The one I really can't stand is Dr Who, I really don't get it. Probably because I compared it to Star Wars as a kid.

Yeah I'm a Trekkie too, Voyager was my favorite of the lot, watching discovery & it's just beginning to grow on me the last few episodes.

Dr Who was always a poor mans sci fi, but I did enjoy the tom Baker years.

TBF I love most good sci fi, sadly 90% of it is proper cheese factory & very poor.

My favorite sci fi film still has to be Forbidden Planet (1956), most modern sci fi films / shows owe a lot to that film, it was the golden age of cinema & the 1st real high budget / serious look into the subject, the efforts / sound / script & plot are IMO excellent & is still holds it's metal today, also what a dark & disturbing subject matter.

The most recent things I have really enjoyed are -

Future Man, now it is super corney, but in a good way for a change IMO, took me a few episodes to get into but I am now champing at the bit for a season two to air, it's pretty messed up but I loved it.

Titan AE (animated film) - don't miss this one if you can deal with animation, it's awesome!

& lastly I have just started watching the new series Doom Patrol only watched 2 episodes but think it has some potential to be great, could go either way.

I loved all the above Forbidden Planet always used to fascinate me as a kid and I think got me interested in sci-fi even before Star Wars , and well as the usual lost in space, Tom Baker , Blake's 7, Battle star, Original Star Trek, I also remember more obscure programs intriguing me as well like the Logan's Run film and the lesser known Logan's run tv series , Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles too, silent running and 2001 :) . I remember being fascinated by the fantastic voyage where they were shrunk and had to go inside a human body to do battle :D

Really like the new 2 series Star Trek Discovery , and liked Enterprise before and the new films but I do miss Leonard Nimoy cameo appearances now he is no longer with us :(

"Get the hell out of here, you Kirk loving Spock suckers!!"

I don't mind the Trek. I grew up watching the original series and as a kid it was pretty cool. For it's time it was groundbreaking and I can see that now as an adult. Always liked Spock.

Thing is when I saw the Star Wars trilogy in the 80's my life changed, the way I viewed TV and movies was never the same again. And suddenly all the other Sci-Fi just felt somehow disappointing. That's the power of Star Wars (for me).

Saying that, you don't have to compare, they're very different things. I liked Next Gen, used to watch it religiously first time round with my Mum. Also got into Deep Space Nine but not seen much of the others. When it comes to the original films I have II Wrath of Khan and III The Search for Spock in my collection, both great but all the others are pants. Really enjoy the new Films, especially the first two. Great cast, good stories and well made.

Exactly, no need to compare, why not both? :D

Just finished the films now and have started DS9, then it will be Voyager then Enterprise.

I didn't mind ST, but I did find it got a bit predictable.

You would be watching an episode with some huge cliff hanger, a main character near to death or the ship/a planet going to be destroyed, and as it built to a climax you would be sat wondering how they were going to get out of it (you knew the main characters and ship would survive) and then hey presto out nowhere they come up with Star Trek-babble and "recalibrate the phase inverters to emit a modified tacion pulse" and magically everything turns out ok. Snore.
I could forgive them doing it once or twice but it happened far far far too often.

I liked the idea of Voyager, a new setting, if you like. They are half way across the galaxy and you could have any new enemy or ally your imagination could think of. Instead we got Harry Kim falling in love with a holodeck character!? Really!? You have a (near) totally blank slate and the best idea you can come up with is to have a character fall in love with a hologram!? Cos people watch ST to see a love story develop!?

As for DS9, I watched the first series or two of it but nothing happened. I mean, nothing. It was duller than dull. I think they eventually brought in some war with "the dominion" (?) but I had long long since given up on it.

I really liked DS9, well worth sticking with. Otherwise watched TNG but never got into the other lines. I am enjoying the new series though, bit hit and miss but some good twists.

The JJ Abrahms reboot is good too

I love star wars, but **** episode 7 and 8 maybe also episode 9 :(

I also like star Trek but only the movies, I have tried to see the different star trek tv series the old one, deep space 9 and a few others but they were not so good.

I like Star Trek - I guess I started watching the original series in the mid-eighties as Dad had them on video. Struggled with Next Gen but really like Voyager and to a lesser extent, Enterprise. Managed to pick up some props from both of those series in the Christie's auction a few years back.
