Silly Vectis question.....

I think I would rather wait till this auction blows over and then pick up some bits after when people who are bidding have overspent and need to settle a credit card debt quickly.

Very good idea!

Anyone know what the Meccano 12 backs went for? Especially the Han?

£2,300

****! I was the underbidder on an absentee bid with a max of 2200. Oh well - I have no excess funds and was going to have to sell stuff anyway to buy it, so perhaps it's for the best. Thanks, Max.

Patience becoming very thin here...

I do hope whoever is bidding on the TT Luke Hoth is going to pick it up in person as bottom of bubble will be giving way within 10 minutes of being shipped.
that had me thinking too, how can an auction house how be selling stuff like TT's

Sorry - I meant the Toltoys Luke. Bottom of bubble is smashed basically. £500+ purchase seems risky to me.

lot 148 estimate 50-70 and it sells for 1400, how can they say these people are toy experts when they are so massively out, I just can get my head around it

Ha! That was my fault that one.... :D

The estimate was ridiculously low but I meant to drop out at £1,100 but auction fever pushed me a bit higher - whoever won it really wanted it!!

I take it they didn't accept your reason for the accidental bid !!

I didn't bother asking. It was my mistake, I take responsibility for it. It wouldn't have been fair on the seller for the piece to go unsold.

I did something similar by paging down on my iPad , boom !! A graded 80 Yak Face moc and £1700 . !!!!!

I take it it was a tri not a POTF? Surely if you sit on that a couple more years you can sell and get your money back? I'm just watching auction now and I'm being VERY careful where my finger is. I forgot just how big that bid button is

You guys are talking about the Meccano diorama display stand, right? I purchased mine in a private transaction for just slightly less than the final price on that one (including BP), although mine is in really top condition. It is incredibly rare as you probably know - don't know where Vectis could have gotten that estimate, but clearly they were wrong.

yeh mate, and that's my point it is obviously worth **** loads more than their estimate, I thought these guys earned their commission by doing research on items etc, obviously didn't research this one very much

Amen bro. Being off by 20-30%, no big deal. They were off on this one by 2,000 - 2,800%

Damn, sorry to hear that. Should I tear it in half and send you the other half? :D

Next one is for you, my friend! I will keep my eyes peeled.

I could have weekend custody? I know the judge called me a deadbeat dad but if you'll just let me see little 'Guerre' every now and then i'll become a better man I swear it...

Just found out that even though I was registered as the highest bidder for the 12 back Palitoy Sand Person I didn't win it, go figure!! Not a happy bunny. Useless!

That's mental. How come?

I'd be livid if I was the seller - what other bids aren't registering?

No it definitely sold and for less than my bid. I've complained but they liken it to putting a paddle up late, which I think is wrong as the system shouldn't accept a bid if it's late. Basically they've missed my bid and won't admit to it.
