I just thought of something - AFA often use sellotape to secure weapons in place, and they have been around for over 10 years now. Even in the 90s I remember seeing MOCs and sealed vehicles with yellow sellotape, it's just not made to last. So has anybody seen an old graded loose figure with either yellowing tape or tape that has come unstuck? Surely it's just a matter of time until it happens to most loose graded figures, just as it will eventually happen to most tape inside bubbles and on sealed boxes.

See this is what happens when you stop thinking about boobs for even a nanosecond!
PLEASE be more careful in future Edd.

Why cant they make a small acrylic pocket to put the weapon in where they normally put the weapon. To expensive i suppose

Yeah good point never really thought about this. I got a lot of loose stuff graded about 7 years ago and the tape still seams as fresh now as it was then. But I'm sure over time some will come loose and or yellow. I think they used the nice Scotch tape which helps.

I also have ROTJ and POTF MOC and the tape is still holding the weapon in place on most and has not yellowed, so it could depend on the type of tape? I reckon direct sunlight would damage sellotape as well.

I agree though, for 'preservation' sellotape is a poor option.

I don't think it's standard sellotape that the afa use it looks more like a film of some sort, deffo high quality, UKG on the other hand do use a run of the mill sellotape

I have a blue snag (afa) that was done ten years ago and still looks good, only time will tell I guess
