It was nice to buy a new game, if you know what I mean?

It's good fun as well!

Not terribly interesting to most people, but I collect new/unused controllers, and finally completed my PS1 set. I picked up the white PSone controller in a random vape shop while visiting family for a tenner :) You can also see here the little known 'Analog Controller' which was around for a very short time before the Dual Shock came out, you can tell the difference by the longer handles and indented analog sticks. It also doesn't rumble.

I think controllers are actually really important elements to a console, it's the bit you interact with the most and some are so iconic that they're almost more recognisable that the console.

I started collecting them because they were cheaper and took up less space than consoles. But you're right, to me they are one of the most interesting parts, especially looking at the progression (although funnily enough the PlayStation controller hasn't changed a lot in 25 years!) I also like collecting them because when you buy a used console the controller is usually the most knackered part, so it's nice having a set of fresh ones should I ever want to use them. Although the vintage collector in me says no

Haha- the arcade stick I managed to get for the Dreamcast was pretty much unused and I didn't think twice about putting it to work

Now this might not look retro but it is rammed full of retro goodness 8)

Another homebrew pick up, this is a brutal arcade scroller that takes no prisoners. Great fun!

I haven't bought much recently, but am very happy with this sealed Game Boy Color I got from eBay. It was a second chance offer as the highest bidder pulled out :)

Nice game boy colour, I remember talking about these and friends saying Nintendo couldn't make them work because the battery's didn't last! lol

Nice one Edd!

My latest is someone less spectacular but it will give me hours of entertainment

Well this is a result, I bought this for the cool box that I hadn't seen before, the seller listed it as used but it turns up and the controller is brand new :)

Nice one- I had a similar experience when I bought my arcade stick for the DC, although I've used it now. Funny how in SW collecting mode I wouldn't use an unused ship for example but that doesn't bother me for a retro game/controller.....anyway, here's my latest pick up- a joshprod port of Flashback for DC :P

Also got this promo backpack from the DC release in '99 which the seller had listed as being from the Nintendo Dreamcast

Really happy with my latest pick up, a brand new Sonic 3 Mega Drive II pack. It's all in immacuate condition, probably the best console in my collection now :)

Great thread this guys love the Mega Drive Sonic box, how many consols have you got edd_jedi ?

Thanks, I've got aout 20 in total, the earliest is the NES and latest a Wii, with most of the major consoles in between. I need to do a group shot some time.

That Megadrives' stunning Edd. It's a cool controller the Megadrive, feels sturdy and chunky, more so than the Snes ones. I bought this classic just for nostalgia, got one for a present in the early 80's :D

A good days hunting today, I found all these in a random mobile phone repair shop! The condition of all of them is excellent

Love seeing all this retro gaming stuff makes me want to get an old game boy and revisit some classics.

An impulse buy from CeX last week, I usually play handheld games on one of these but this was in really nice condition, so couldn't pass it up for £45. And it's actually really nice to play on the non-backlist original screen, it's easy on the eyes and feels more authentic!

This has been a labour of love, I bought it as non-working back in January and had to replace practically everything to get it working. But this new LCD screen looks a million times better than the original one so it was worth the wait!
