Can someone confirm if ToyToni ever travelled to the US in the 90's to sell Star Wars merchandise?

Specifically the Atlantique City show.

Yes he did....and sold unused backing cards to US dealers and collectors

You gave me the exact answer I was looking for without me asking the question directly which is a good sign. How do you know this to be true?

The thing that makes the Internet a darling when it comes to hobbying are the things that also make it a source of frustration when it comes to trying to restrict or arrest the movement of illegitimate goods.

For instance, there are goods circulating through comic consignment houses and auctions that trace back to scandals from over 6-8 years ago, and in some cases even longer. Which was one of the reasons behind my suggestion that we have some mechanism to lookup serial numbers as people will get the idea that this is merely speculation, and that graded items are legit until someone "proves" them otherwise.

Now, while I think giving Vectis, and BT and even auctioneers who are known to sell this type of stuff a heads-up, there is no one at the moment that is going to stick out their neck and sign their name on a document which suggests that these are "counterfeits." Just ask the good chaps who tried as much with the Scott McWilliam's scandal - collateral damage is a very real problem in these situations.

Having seen this play over in the vintage comic hobby, the best bet we've got (at least until we have 100% ironclad, uncontestable proof) is a concerted community response. Something like a thread which lists questionable/suspect goods found in the wild, with a brief summary of the allegations and why these items should be frozen and not sold, and when a piece surfaces, someone takes the initiative to notify the seller and post a link to their auction. Of course you're still going to get some renegades who will ignore the requests, but anybody who values their reputation will abide.

There is another angle in the short term which could be useful to this endeavour, but it will require someone who will inspect Toni MOC's and put their name to a document suggesting Toni was selling "fakes" or "counterfeits." I've tried this and unfortunately haven't turned up anything for the time being so if anyone has any suggestions on this, or someone is willing to volunteer, then please chime-in or contact me as this could really open up some possibilities.

The main problem as I see it at present is e-bay its too easy to unload these on unsuspecting collectors. If someone started an auction for one of each type of these affected figures and put a link to this discussion in the auction and two of us can bid it up to some ridiculous price to draw attention to it, it would make people who don't use the forum boards aware these are possibly bad.

Something like for sale one Palitoy Jedi fett, click in this link to see the discussion on why this figure is worth the 10k and just link it to the discussion here or RS bid it up high and then cancel the auction before it ends.

People shouldn't let Toni's possible runner stop them opening up small claims cases, or otherwise trying to get their money back through other legal sources.

He's unlikely to be gone for good, he'll just be laying low for a while and will return to the UK at some point in the future. It happens all the time.

Claims need to logged against him now so if he tries to get a visa in the future it may come out in his application, or when he comes home in afew years you've still got the means to pursue him.

If it's not logged your money is gone for good.

Many thanks for the bids guys, Don't worry I will cancel the auction saying the item was damaged so it will actually never finish.

He sold some to a friend of mine, back in around 2000 at that show

give toni an ultimatum, we collaboratively (there must be 100's of people with massive money in this) report him to the police (and inland revenue just in case) or he comes out and defends himself.

but to be honest ive lost all patience and think we should just get a report in, the best and most productive way possible.

TTs ebay accout "marsking" not being registered as a business account on ebay (which is actually illegal to do so now i think?) means that he probably has not been declaring the revenue from the 10 years or so of sales .im sure the tax man would be interested in that also when its more than clear he is a business  could be some real tax avation goin on with ebay that account , just thought i throw that in for all the scorned people looking for some additional armoury

I just checked on eBay and his account is registered as a business seller.
