An extremely dominant performance from the AT-AT Driver keeps his title chances well and truly alive. The AT-AT Driver has always had a tendency to do well in the group stage and in 2014 he found himself in the later stages of the contest but failed miserably in the quarter finals when the Dark Lord, Darth Vader himself destroyed him 21-6. He returned in 2015 looking to go deep into the rounds again and started beautifully winning his group against Leia Boushh and Death Star Droid, this time however he was eliminated in the second round as Biker Scout saw him off 17-14. As for Nien Nunb and the emotional Rancor Keeper, it's group elimination yet again like every previous competition.

GROUP R RESULTS

1. 54 points. Squid Head. QUALIFIED.
2. 52 points. Lando Calrissian.
3. 38 points. Princess Leia (Hoth Outfit).


Quite a tight group with three figures whom have probably unachieved in previous competitions. In 2014 both Leia Hoth and Lando were eliminated in the group stage, whilst Squid Head only went one better losing out in the second round. In 2015 it was group elimination for Squid Head this time around as he finished runner up in his group losing out comfortably to Luke Jedi. Leia Hoth also fell at the group stage yet again, whilst Lando did get himself out of the group which contained Admiral Ackbar and Dengar. Could it be Lando's year we all wondered, sadly not as he was destroyed in the second round 22-9 by Luke X-Wing. Squid Head will want to push on further into the competition now he has gotten out of a potentially tough group, but has he over exerted himself during the group stage and left anything in the tank for the knockouts, we will have to wait and see.

1. 57 points. Zuckuss. QUALIFIED.
2. 44 points. Lando Calrissian (General Pilot).
3. 43 points. EV-9D9.


I was surprised at just how easy Zuckuss won this group as he dominated the group from early knockings, Lando General looked like he was going to match him early doors but started to fall away and ended up in a battle with EV-9D9 for the runners up spot, which he finally took by a single point.
Although all these figures were eliminated in group stage in 2015, in 2014 for Zuckuss he won his group beating Ackbar by a single point. Zuckuss went on to be humiliated in the second round and will be hoping for a much better showing this time around.

1. 67 points. Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot. QUALIFIED.
2. 43 points. 8D8.
3. 34 points. Bespin Security Guard (White).


It doesn't surprise me one bit see the TIE Pilot smash this group, the Pilot has got good pedigree within this competition. In 2014 he flew into the quarter finals eliminating Ree Yees, 8D8, Jawa, Greedo and C-3P0 on his way to the quarter finals where he eventually fell 16-10 to twice runner up the Hoth Stormie. The TIE Pilot though looked in hot form again in 2015 when he won a tight group against Luke Bespin and Lando Skiff. However a tough second round victory against Emperor's Royal Guard 17-14 looked to take a lot out of him and consequently caused perhaps the shock of the contest last year as he lost his third round match to R5-D4 16-9. TIE Pilot certainly has the credentials to go far in this contest, he just needs to focus.
